I feel sorry for everyone who was purchased a samsung or panasonic 3d tv.
Why?
Because sony's looks fucking sexy! 4 3D PS3 games with them aswell? plus 2 movies (albeit shit one's but nevermind) This could get interesting! Anyone seen these beasts? I didn't think the whole 3D blu ray thing would take off at all, but having seen the gaming side of things starting to gain some ground it could get very interesting! Who's got 3D already? What are your thoughts? Also, what is the news/buzz in the gaming industry about the 3D movement? Is there going to be new consoles soon?......... |
Way too gimmicky for me to buy :P
|
3D will not take off until you can remove the glasses.
Look at the % of bluray releases that will be HD 3D a year. Look at the % of games. It's not going to be a success because there is not enough content and people do not want to wear crappy plastic glasses. IMHO. |
I agree with both of you, I didn't think this would take off at all when it first came out. But after seeing the 3D gaming on the PS3, I reckon that could just set it rolling.
I just read an article, if you recently updated your PS3 it is now 3D ready, you don't need a special console or anything. |
I don't think i'll be in any rush to buy one though I must admit, probably be something better out in a month lol especially the way things seem to be moving in the tech world these days :1orglaugh
|
I hate those 3d glasses
|
the new ones aren't really that bad as compared to what was out there before
|
ill wait a bit.
new technology = problems :2 cents: plus who the fuck wants to wear those retarded ass glasses all the time to watch TV? I cant stand wearing sun glasses even, so if they want my money, they have to find some new technology! |
I see most people hate the glasses idea actually. I wouldn't mind wearing them if they are comfortable.
Got to be better than cardboard one's :winkwink: |

just wait 2 years and you wont need them anymore and you can buy a 3D TV with glasses for $400 bucks at Walmart |
Once the glasses are gone its going to be a big hit. Everyone I know is talking about the new 3d DS since you dont need glasses everyones interested, even this older dude who dont know shit about technology thinks its cool. When asked about 3d tvs everyones like, do i need to wear cardboard glasses? ehhh I dont want to. And the same older guy I know says "we had that shit when I used to go to the movies, it sucked then and it sucks now" LOL cracks me up but yeah....
|
biggest bullshit ever.., you really dont have a clue, no offense.

Well people DONT want to wear crappy glasses lol!
|
Samsung is working on 3D contact lenses
|
I really have no interest in it...

I won't be messing with 3d until the glasses are gone. I'm not going to have a bunch of stupid glasses in my den, just so people can see 3d beads of sweat on Bruce Willis' forehead.
|
fuck 3d, makes me dizzy
|
went to a sony 3D presentation a month or so ago. Looked ok imo.
But unless they ditch the glasses its not going to take off. Give it 5 more years or so I would say. |

Nintendo just announced and showed it's latest portable DS game system which is 3D with no glasses. And from people that have used it, it looks really good.
I've been using 3d monitor for gaming for over a year and some of the games it really does add a lot. Some not so much and it's more of a distraction. But once the technology improves, I think gaming will drive 3d more than movies, at least for the home. |
I will probably wait a year or so until they get it perfected.
|
gonna wait till they are 100 bucks
|
Millions of people have put on an uncomfortable and silly looking mask and snorkel so they can see all the wonder that is underwater. I've spent almost my entire life near the ocean and I can't recall one person that said they won't put on the mask because it looks stupid. They were all willing to do what it takes to have that experience. There are so many other activities that require specialized equipment that's both awkward and uncomfortable but people use them anyways for enjoyment.
I can't help but laugh at people that say they won't wear 3D glasses in the privacy of their own home, even if they are comfortable because they look stupid. |

I have a regular Panasonic 65" plasma.
Loving it. |
The 3D tv's aren't all that much more expensive, it's when you have to buy the new player and glasses that it starts adding up. People will buy it because we are a society of consumers and the sheep buy everything if it's priced right.
I say I'll wait until they have one that you don't need glasses, but who knows i might cave eventually when I need to upgrade. |
I tried the 3D TVs in the shop the other day and was amazed by what I saw ... what I hated was the reflection inside the glasses from light behind you, very distracting.
so no go for me |
3D is nothing more than a gimmick. Watch it too long and it will give you a major headache. Not worth spending money on.
Spanx! Jack |
Sitting around the house in 3d glasses, hahahaha
. |
I still don't know why people are buying TVs over HD Projectors for their home theatres (the only exception being those who don't have the space, if you live in a shoe box I guess).
You can get a 3D-capable, 1080p projector for like $700 and then watch it anywhere from 60" to 250" (as your room size allows). I know even though my current one is older, 720p, I love it for the 600 bucks it cost. Playing PS3 or watching movies on 120" is nice. |

Also, my plasma is much better then a projector. Sure if I want a 105" screen size then a projector rocks. But I have huge windows in the room we watch tv in. |
I'm not a big fan of 3d. I'll just wait for the next "big thing" :)
|
I have to agree with the glasses comment. a lot of people hate them. I won't even go to 3D movies if I have to wear them.
|
Looking fwd to see those 3D tube sites comming
:2 cents: |
agree to DamianJ, those glasses are too uncomfortable and expensive. Can't imagine that it's enjoyable to watch movies with some friends when half them get headaches and complain about the heavy glasses. Seen it on a Samsung TV, it was ok but not really worth the money I think. Without shutterglasses it would be much more interesting.

Its a dutch company, 3d technology, no glasses needed, and its possible to view the 3d effect with more people at a time. Believe me it works, ive seen it in action. |

Go back to troll school. I know you have the ability to do better than this. |
i feel for anyone buying a tv that you need to use special glasses to watch...even when they do come out with 3d tvs where you don't need the glasses, chances are you'll have to be directly infront of the television so watching with a group of friends is out.
|
I dont like the glasses part of it all.
|
I will care about 3D TV's when they reach 55+ inches for under $1500...even then, I probably won't buy one if my current TV's still work. I do know I won't buy one if I need glasses, period!

Cant handle being wrong? Or butthurt becausevim pointing out you dont know shit about it? |
go to 3dcosplay.com for some amazing 3d pics
|
Quote:
i doubt that would work either, I bet there is millions of people who wouldn't even dare think about wearing contacts even if they wear glasses. |
WOW So nearly a whole page of views and comments, and not any of them are really positive?
Atleast not at the moment...... wonder what we will be saying in a years time! Does anyone know if they are working on 3D tv's without glasses already? the nintendo DS thing looks ok but thats a tiny screen being used. |
heard it'll be about 4 years for projection 3d

So when you watch tv in your house you have lights on behind you?? Quote:
Great analogy.. These 3D TVs can be viewed in 2d as well as 3d. I would not watch the news or TMZ in 3d. These tvs are for watching a movie on. I may watch one or two movies at home a week. When i watch a Movie, i tune my 3k+ Bose system, turn my my 73inch Diamond series Mitsubishi Tv on, turn off all of the lights and get my popcorn. It becomes an enjoyable experience. I dont turn off lights or run my Bose system for the news or random TV shows. But when they make bigger 3d tvs, i would defiantly put on a pair of shutter glasses to ad to my movie watching experience. That would be 2 times a week. I would not watch random tv shows and news in 3d. That would be watched in 2d. As the 3d tvs play in 2d. It doesn't matter what people say on this board about 3D, because like it or not these Tvs are selling out everywhere. 3d pc monitors and 3d graphics cards are also selling out everywhere. :2 cents: |
