WordPress 3.0 ?Thelonious?

It has arrived....WordPress 3.0

Soure: http://wordpress.org/development/2010/06/thelonious/

Arm your vuvuzelas: WordPress 3.0, the thirteenth major release of WordPress and the culmination of half a year of work by 218 contributors, is now available for download (or upgrade within your dashboard). Major new features in this release include a sexy new default theme called Twenty Ten. Theme developers have new APIs that allow them to easily implement custom backgrounds, headers, shortlinks, menus (no more file editing), post types, and taxonomies. (Twenty Ten theme shows all of that off.) Developers and network admins will appreciate the long-awaited merge of MU and WordPress, creating the new multi-site functionality which makes it possible to run one blog or ten million from the same installation. As a user, you will love the new lighter interface, the contextual help on every screen, the 1,217 bug fixes and feature enhancements, bulk updates so you can upgrade 15 plugins at once with a single click, and blah blah blah just watch the video. :) (In HD, if you can, so you can catch the Easter eggs.).....

Im upgrading all my blogs right now....

Downloading right now.... can't wait!

I had a play about with it this morning. I quite like it so far.

They added MU and created a new theme.

This will definitelly HARM some people like theme designers and MU installers. Less work for them. Well, I guess nothing last forever.

BTW, that "Twenty Ten" theme is a Literal COPY of other themes developed by other people. But anyway...

.

Yes, I was waiting for this answer. I don't want to fix my blogs, because they are not broken :)))

However my blogger guy is always pissed of because of some image positioning issue he is suffering from, and it might be that the new release doesn't have this bug or whatever...

Maybe I will test the new release on an unused domain..

I always test first on development installs to make sure nothing is broken but I generally wait a while to see what security bugs come up before I install across my domains.

If you have a theme that takes advantage of the custom navigation menu then you would notice a big difference.

This theme has been upgrade to take advantage of WordPress 3.0

Arras Theme 1.4

Do you know what widget that is on the frontpage? Is that jquery? We need that for a current project (not wordpress).

I have been beta testing 3.0 for about the last month, and I have no complaints. I have updated both MU sites with a few 100 blogs and small single installs without a hitch.

bDok 06-17-2010 05:21 PM
