travel times, sleeping in your own bed, being familiar with your surroundings, special treatment on and off the field.

i do not think in an international tournament home field comes into advantage as much considering that most of the players have to travel distances anyway.

the benefit for an international tournament for the home country is an economic impact. knowing this you can also spend more money on training and development prior to the tournament.

I hate the Italy cheats, they took no less than 10 dives during the game, and the ref was essentially their pet who awarded exactly what was demanded of him by the cheating Italians. They were the better team though, but couldn't put it in the net without ref assistance. Kiwis almost made it 2-1 which would have been epic!
