Is it just us, or is HOST GATOR off line??

!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( our sites are gone. In fact, I can't even pull up www.HostGator.com

Whas there a power outage?

I'm stressing out.

Agent 488 06-21-2010 10:48 PM

HOST GATOR is the bomb.

AlphaSky 06-21-2010 10:52 PM

If the dedicated servers go offline, then back online....

Do we have to reset anything on our end??

I hope they turn them on soon.... what a drag.... at first we thought our sites crashed... but then realized it's not just ours.... Gator is gone too! :(

AlphaSky 06-21-2010 10:57 PM

Hooray! BACK ONLINE!!!

baddog 06-21-2010 10:57 PM

AlphaSky 06-21-2010 10:58 PM

chupachups 06-21-2010 11:23 PM

LeRoy 06-21-2010 11:26 PM

Be sure to have a fresh back up and you'll be fine ;)

Hostgator are a very shady company in my experience.

One of my mainstream sites promote (or promoted past tense) their hosting and it earned a couple of $100 referral commissions that were delayed from initial payout date as I believe commission junction allows them to do and then completely disappeared from my account with no mention of why or any other comment.

I queried this with commission junction who said both sales were cancelled.

As an affiliate we have to believe this don't we? Easy get out for them.

However, not in this case as one of these two sales was for a backup server for myself and the other was for a friend who had asked for a hosting company recommendation.

My order was initially held on GEO IP grounds, and coincidentally so was my friend's for the exact same reason. We are in different countries. In both our cases the original payment was refunded, we then provided proof of our mutual ids, they apologised and took the payment again with the SAME INVOICE NUMBER as the original sale.

My friend paid for 2 years in advance, I have paid monthly for 5 months since then, they actually billed me twice in 2nd month once from each initial subscription, yes including the refunded cancelled one.

All information was provided to commission junction including dates, subscription ids and it all was referred to Hostgator who have still not paid up 3 months later despite being chased.

I believe that they do this purely to get out of paying referral commissions although in both of these cases they already have more than $100 in their hand from each of us.

They may be a decent hosting company, but they are not a decent business.

EDIT: Ok they are probably not a decent hosting company either :)

We like Hostgator, very nice people to help you with stuff. This was the first time ever there was a little hiccup with service. It was just dumb luck I was online when it happened so I freaked out a little. LOL I thought our sites were gone! Then it all came back online. And yes, we do have a back up, in fact, we have 2 weekly updated back ups on our side.

WWHew! All is well in lego land again.

Not long at all, when I noticed we were down, it all came back up in about 10 or 15 mins?? Not sure, cause when you're down, every minutes feels like an hour. lol But even the hostgator main site was down too, so I figured it wasn't just us... oh well....

Probably a problem with your connection to Hostgator and their Datacenter...

Did you have any one else look for you? Or look at your stuff thru a Proxy?

directfiesta 06-22-2010 10:07 AM

Before getting a heart attack over a few minutes :

http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Also, as I do, a firewall can block you if you have many failed logins and will block all ips behind the firewall.

Use a proxy to check and reach your sites :2 cents:

AS for the pushing of a dedicated server at 99$ to the OP , I do not think it is what he needs... a bit like pushing to buy a bus to drive your one kid family ....

dallasnovelty 06-22-2010 11:36 AM

I have a site on HostGator and they still cant get the domain to work right. Now they say I have to park the domain over another domain so it looks like I will be moving to a new server. HG also wanted to charge me $10 to downgrade an account LOL what kind of shit is that.

Deej 06-22-2010 01:53 PM

you should seriously reevaluate your hosting...

They are THE worst hosting cpompany I have ever dealt with.

They will change your Database Passwords and ftp passwords without notice and what seems to be scheduled.

it happened to me once and i said hrmmm... happened twice and i moved my shit right away.

How you found good help there is beyond me.

Move your stuff...

gotwebhost.com
mojohost.com
nakedhosting.com
webair.com is even better. Id like to say my view on webair has imporved over the last year. Plus I havent seen any webair is down threads for the durationa s well...

All far better than hostgator.
