ICANN meeting on .xxx live chat/video, right now

They're on a break right now (4:36 am Eastern time), but will be deciding .xxx in a few minutes, when the break is over.

I seriously doubt that it will decrease the role of .coms in this business.

The break is over, so the meeting is now live again. Some initial resolutions, and on to the important stuff.

Not yet. You can watch it live....there seems to be a few adult folks listening in -- I see Oprano, SteveLightSpeed, and others. The media will be sure to report it once they decide.

well so far that the Chinese are welcome to the root server now they will have .28a&/&8 <--- Chinese characters

They just voted with two members abstaining. It passes but they realize the problems with XXX's lack of community support. It looks to me like they punted the problem to GAC for reconsideration.

Yup as Rob said above it seems like while many of them stated they were "uncomfortable" with it, they will pass the ball to GAC to help them make a desicion. So it's not fully dead, just stalled at the moment which doesnt seem like a win for anybody at the moment.

So the public will be strung along for another 6 months, while the lobbyists and lawyers work behind the scenes.
