IP address range effect on search engine ranking
Over the years I have read that some people believe that it is necessary, when dealing with a large portfolio of domains, to spread them out over various IPs in different ranges. Have you had any experience with moving multiple domains from one or a few IPs to multiple IPs across 2 or 3 ranges and seen any positive effect on search engine rankings and/or traffic?

1999 myth. other things are way more important than this.. anyone saying different with a "SEO" link in their sig (either real or parody), doesn't have a clue.
Don't over think it and watch Matt Cutts videos, you will learn 95% of SEO watching him :2 cents: |

Good luck listening to the guy paid by Google when your goal is to rank higher in Google than you 'should' for terms. If Google knew a way to rank your site ahead of other sites that were
more 'deserving' of being toplisted... how long do you think it would be before they announced it through Matt or anyone else. |

I used to believe in separate IP ranges however that was around 2000.
Hope it is not true as I am fucked. |
different ip ranges is a myth, a big one that is.
|
In my experience if you're doing white hat you usually don't even need separate IP addresses let alone different subnets.

Ask Baddog, he's an expert.

if it's a myth, spreading your domains over different ip's won't hurt.
if it's not a myth, not spreading your domains over different ip's, will hurt.... ....2 cents... |
People named Matt are generally douchebags.
|
No point having a bunch of different IPs if all your domains have the same name servers and owner in WHOIS. Think about it. :)

old myth, but hosting companies make a killing off keeping it alive. ;(

Matt talks about the quality, which the Google is all about! If you have quality site with unique content, oh boy will you be ranked!! Of course there will always be people who will try to scam and try to cheat Search Engines, but that usually doesn't last for very long time. So if you want to make a good ranking on Google, start with watching couple of Matt's videos, and you'll see it works. |
