I think that every president from the first bush on is to blame, but Obamanation is being called on it like no other and is ignoring it
that's why Arizona passed this law. I feel that's the only way anything is going to get done, the people have to force the current and future administrations to do what needs to be done

Obama will go down as one of, if not THE worst president in our times.

He will be remembered for:

- Oil leak
- Immigration / Border issues
- Horrible Economy
- Unemployment
- National Debt (more than all other presidents combined)
- A 2nd recession (coming soon)

He's banking on history repeating itself. If things begin to turn around right near the end of this term, it will skyrocket his momentum for running for re-election. If not, then yeah, he's gonna go down with some baggage.

Anyone who's grown up in Arizona or California has driven through a Border Patrol checkpoint 30-50 miles from the border for the last 20 years, this is nothing new it's just the only thing Republicans in Arizona can run on.

The delegation met Monday morning with Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Attorney General Terry Goddard in Tucson. During those meetings, the federal representatives also pledged $600 million in emergency funding to help with border-security issues.

According to Giffords office, an additional 250 troops will be sent to Texas, another 224 troops to California, and 72 to New Mexico. There will also be 130 personnel sent to a national liaison office in an undetermined location."

No question about it, if he makes miracles he will be the rock star everyone said he was and will breeze into a second term. I just don't think that's going to happen in time and the dems are going to lose a lot of seats here in a few months and NOTHING is going to get passed by Obama at that point. His time is almost up.

He has a few months to create miracles and try to pass every law he wants to pass. Otherwise he's screwed. I don't see how he is going to fix the economy or jobs in the next 2 years and I dont think our troops will be home either, as he said he would do. Gitmo won't be closed, the gulf will be a mess and he won't have much left to run on. I'll be surprised if the people fall for his smooth talking again. His walk does not match his talk and I think everyone is starting to see that.

I bet he is not only a 1 term president but he will go down as one of the worst. Be it his fault or not, the buck stops with him and ALL the blame will be dropped in his lap.

The sad thing is that whoever is next will just blame Obama, as Obama has blamed Bush and the cycle will continue.

to me the main reason Obama has this on his shoulders is that he has promised immigration reform and has yet to deliver and doesn't seem like it is even on the table. If he came out and said, "Look, we are focusing on the economy and getting people back to work first, then we will work on immigration." I think people would be more open to him. Where he has troubles is that he hasn't delivered and given no signs of delivering and then when a state decides to act on their own he sues to stop them.

If you are going to tell someone they can't use their solution, you should have a solution they can use ready to go.

I don't think there should be ANY troops on our borders or walls or any of that stupid Soviet Union Iron Curtain kind of bullshit.

Mexicans have crossed that border for centuries without causing any trouble.

The problem with violence down there is 10000% caused by OUR country and it's "War On Drugs" that makes it a gold mine to smuggle drugs into the U.S. Just like alcohol prohibition had the unintended consequence of causing so much gang violence...when prohibition was lifted, the violence stopped.

Anyway, with that said...the Governor of Arizona does have a point. I saw her on the news the day after she met with Obama. She said that day that he promised to get back with her in 2 weeks with a solid plan. She said that she was looking forward to it and was hopeful.

Looks like he never got back with her, and instead had those signs put up. Typical Washingon "do nothing" move.

If I were all of you, I'd be pissed that since the beginning of this country poor Mexican immigrants crossed our borders and harvested our vegetables and fruit. And now because of our governments INSISTENCE on controlling what you and I can use to party on a weekend...violence has erupted.

And in the end what will happen? They will put TROOPS on OUR border! And build a wall.

Wasn't it just 20 years ago that President Reagan stood in front of the Berlin Wall and demanded it be taken down? I spent my childhood of the 1960's and 1970's in school being taught that it was evil and that people with walls were NOT free!

I love Mexico. Loved going down there to vacation. It's always been corrupt. But corruption didn't cause gangs to form with BILLIONS of dollars at stake.

They WERE in Columbia. BUT, the good ol' USA threatened Columbia with sanctions if they didn't allow us to send TROOPS in there. So we did, and after a couple of bloody decades we got rid of the Columbian Cartels.

Which left a huge hole. The Mexicans are filling it. Now you have violence right on the Mexican border with the U.S.

My family (orange grove owners in Fla.) have hired immigrants to pick oranges for over 40 years. No violence. No problems. Efficient hard working people.

But when you make drugs illegal...and then you spend BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to make it harder and harder to get them across the border? Well, you're just making it ever more profitable to get in the drug business. And that is what those young teenage boys in Mexico are doing by the droves.

He did get back to her...I think it was a five man envoy that he sent to Arizona...and they met with the Governor within the last day or two. She was not pleased with the way the meeting went.

My point originally is this: Nobody had a problem with Mexicans for over two hundred years. Our countries "big brother" insistence on trying to rule everybodies personal lives went into overdrive when Nixon started the "War On Drugs" in the early 1970's

After 40 years, what do we have to show for it? Drug use is higher (no pun intended) than ever. We IMPRISON more of our own citizens than ANY country in the world (including that evil North Korea and their buddy China). More lives and families have been completely destroyed by authorities imprisoning people for smoking pot and snorting coke than have ever been affected by actual drug addiction.

And we keep spending billions and billions of OUR money to throw OURSELVES in jail!

Stop the War On Drugs (or as it should be called: The Govt. Controlling Our Lives) and the violence on the Mexican border stops.

Once the violence stops, all the shouting about building walls stops. Mexican immigrants go back to doing all the jobs the nobody here can or will do.

I am not aware of any country on the earth that allows illegal entry into their country. Keeping people in and keeping people out are different...period.

You keep saying no problems on the borders for more than 200 years. Ever heard of the Mexican/American war...ever heard of the multiple raids by Mexican revolutionaries into the United States...ever heard of Patton leading a military force into Mexico...did you ever attend Highschool?

That's 524 on top of the ones already here... or 1.4 more national guard per border mile, not all of which is crossable.

Terrorism isn't why we need to secure that border... if that's the case, then the entire Canadian border needs to be secured. It has 1000's of miles of open range, no-check point, and is easy to walk across all over the place. Hell, every Port in our Country is more open than the southern border is.

The border needs to be secured because of illegal immigration and the drug/gun/gang wars spilling over the border. Not some fake, fear based, stories told by men that would scream bloody murder if the Gov setup camp in their back yards.

It needs to be secured...better than it is, but it damn sure doesn't need to be over ran with military personal.

I completely agree with you that the so called "War on Drugs" is a catastrophe and has destroyed Mexico and decimated personal freedoms in the US (paramilitary police forces, no-knock raids, random searches, unwarranted surveillance, etc.). It is the main reason I moved out of the US. Having said that..... the government has a legal and moral obligation to protect the border from foreign invaders. It is one of the few legitimate purposes of the federal government. A government that cannot control its own borders is not a legitimate government. A nation that cannot control its own borders is not a legitimate state.

To say that there has been "NO problems with immigrants crossing the border" is the problem. Do you not understand that the cost of the war on drugs along the border is insignificant to the cost of the services provided to the millions of illegal immigrants in our country?
