Schwarzenegger orders min wage for state workers
The Terminator says most state employees will be paid the federal minimum of $7.25 per hour for the July pay period.
I'm sure that won't fuck up to many peoples household budgets. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100702/...t_minimum_wage . |
7.25$ is better then 0.00$
|
Temporarily and they get their money back as soon as the budget is worked out. Will definitely make for a tight July, but they'll still be getting their money.

Great, as if government employees aren't useless enough, now they are making less money and will give a shit even less than they already do...if that's possible

I have been watching the news on this and its funny when the Governor had those 2 mandatory days a month off with out pay for state workers, in order to keep everyone employed. Then the employees unions sue and got it reversed. As a result, a lot of workers got layed off. Some of these unions are so genius. Its funny how they are still trying to argue more money when there isn't any. Treat it like a business and fire people till the budget makes sense. :2 cents: |

I said that incorrectly. You can't save both. Unless you add money.

Might be time to start "tipping" them like they do in 3rd world countries. The illegals would feel more at home that way too.

hilarious...
i've worked in the structural steel biz for 5 years before i jumped into this shit. i still have family and friends in the biz. ive seen with my own eyes how california builds new schools all the time. with ridiculously expensive shit thats completely unnecessary. big radius fucking globes filled with glass, his and her gyms (yes two separate gyms for boys and girls is becoming a california standard for high schools), stainless steel handrails everywhere, etc etc etc... doesn't sound like much to the average joe but unless you've actually dealt with the shit were talking hundreds of thousands of dollars (per school) in man hours in fabrication, man hours fixing the shit with RFI's by the project managers, detailers, architects, and erectors etc, etc.... not to mention the countless hours we pay for fucking idiot inspectors that don't do dick but sleep in their car but are mandatory to check all schools with a fine tooth comb. (LOL) then you drive downtown and watch as the city builds brick center dividers in the street for downtown to make it more pretty, etc, etc... then they cut the state workers wages and shit? lolol this state is a fucking joke. |
State workers are some of the most obnoxious people you can come across (not everyone of course because I don't want to paint everyone as such) but a good majority of them are cocky rude bastards so good for Arnie for doing it. One more reason why I like the Terminator for our great state :)

How much of a decrease is it?

If he made that permanent then it would actually save California from disaster. :2 cents: |

I think a minimum wage is reasonable.

State workers are a drain on any economy. they just create bullshit jobs that for most of the time take 0 skill and just drain on the private sector.
all that happens is the govt creates more "jobs" to inflate the unemployment numbers while in turn taxing the private sector to pay for these "jobs". then the private sector stops hiring people because the govt makes a climate that is less and less favorable towards business. in turn getting rid of REAL JOBS that make REAL MONEY that drive the economy. big govt is always BAD NEWS. but this is what the "people" wanted. the more and more you allow govt to get away with meddling in private lives the more they are going to do so. |
To give you guys an idea about state workers, my EX makes about 55k a year, has no high school diploma or GED and oversees the licenses of doctors in California, doesn't that sound like responsible government practices?
|
Need to fire people until it makes sense. State employees need to feel that if they dont perform to a higher standard, that they can be fired. It works in the private sector that way. The biggest problem with state employees is that they all feel entitled and know they can do what ever and not get fired. Thats one of the big problems right there.
I know for a fact that a brighter person can do the work of 2 or 3 of these "time wasters". Let Wall Mart and McDonalds hire the slow people and handicapped. We need brighter people working for the state doing multiple jobs. If people want to eat and feed their families, make sacrifices today or get fired tomorrow. Where you really see it is at the DMV. Those people are so fucking slow and so lazy. You see DMV workers at the DMV just standing around talking to other workers when their are people waiting over an hour+ waiting to pay a stupid amount of money for car registration, that pays their salaries. Same fucking DMV job at the AAA has lass than a ten min. wait. Very fast, very polite and very efficient. You know why?? Because the people at AAA work for AAA and not the DMV(state). If they dont perform to a particular standard at AAA, they get fired. Its that simple. I will pay the $60 yearly fee at AAA to never ever, wait in a DMV line!! Yes if you did not know, AAA has DMV services inside their offices. The best thing its ran by AAA and not the DMV(state). :2 cents: |
