Rapidshare stop their reward program

Quote:

As of July 1, 2010 RapidShare's RapidPoints programme will be discontinued. This decision by the company is a reaction to claims that the reward programme rewards the uploading of contents that are protected by copyright.
We feel it is necessary to undertake this step as we do not wish RapidShare's users to be exposed to such an unjustified general suspicion. Our primary objective remains to provide users with a fast, secure and reliable service.

"unjustified general suspicion" :1orglaugh
Wise decision and timing by Rapidshare now that US federals and Interpol have begun seizing domains, servers, assets and logs. :pimp

They saw it coming, but it won't make much of a difference, Rapidshare sucks with their download speeds Premium or Free, it's a POS

edit: I download all of my microsoft shit instead of buying it now ever since they screwed me with Hotmail :)

Only a matter of time before they go after all the free file hosts. It's a brave new world. Hopefully the people profiting have also created some websites that pull SE traffic and have earnings that aren't based on theft..

Yes, when they advertise and pay for crimes with their "business model", they will also get attention from authorities.

Nice morals there, so because the stupid clerk at Walmart over charged me for something the next time I go in there I can steal something?

rapidshare cancelled their free download program

ottopottomouse 07-04-2010 04:06 AM

They are running a big risk of fucking up their entire business, it's not like they have no competition.

VGeorgie 07-04-2010 09:04 AM

They made the initial announcement months ago. That's why many of the spongers have switched to other services. Go to the boards - you'll see RapidShare links have been falling off in favor of Sharing Matrix, Deposit Files, and the others.

Loch 07-04-2010 09:37 AM

Problem is that no matter how much they try to clean up they cant.
Not unless they completely clean their entire network which would probably kill them right off.

So when they get checked "if" they get checked they are doomed
They would most likely be better off setting up a new company and system, and eventually have that take over for RapidShare completely but with much tighter rules and more monitored.

Horny Dude 07-04-2010 09:45 AM

Rapidshare is old news. There are so many others cropping up. Hell Sharing Matrix will even pay you to share illegal stuff on their website. When Napster went down you think that stopped music sharing, no.
