Has anyone returned their new iphone? Is it even possible?
I'm completely disappointed with the lack of signal strength in this thing. Dropped calls like you wouldn't believe, I use to be able to stream SiriusXM pretty much anytime, anywhere regardless of wifi and now I can't do shiiiiit. They basically sold me a defective mini-ipad.
Now I'm reading the back of the receipt and it sounds like they'll only except a return for another phone... :helpme I'm gonna call later and find out. Anyone here try doing so yet? Listen, I love my iphone, I've had every generation. It's my personal DVD player, GPS, camera/video camera, gaming console etc etc but this is unacceptable. I think the new OS release coming within the next few weeks is complete BS, how is a software upgrade going to fix signal quality? I think I'll try and return it and grab a new one in 6 months or so when they actually fix the problem. |
did you buy it at an apple store?
if so you can return it with 10% restock fee you can return anything within certain period of time I believe, especially if you bought with a credit card |

I know someone who works at an Apple store told me they charge 10% restock on returns. Asking now just in case...
|
On hold with them now... 20 minutes later still 3 calls ahead of me.:Oh crap
|
Direct quote from the guy I spoke to: "Either I'm losing my hearing or you have bad reception."
In the end, I can still take it back with a restocking fee at the manager's discretion lol. I think I'll print this out just to be safe. http://www.computerworld.com/s/artic...p_return_ fee |
Bit naughty to charge a restock fee on something defective.
|
kinda funny to see everyone brag about how great apple is...
but now we hear that the product is defective, that there is 10% restocking fee, AND you have to wait 20+ mins on hold to get simple questions answered... :1orglaugh |

Apple knew their algorithim for the signal to bars ratio was wrong. It was a good idea at first to have the iPhone always having good strength even if it didn't. There is no standard set for the signal to bar algorithim.
In the beginning: "Oh let's just make our algorithim show 5 bars if the strength is 30%.. Our iPhones will kill the competition with it's fake superior signal strength!" Now the truth comes out and Apple is "Shocked" and "stunned" that their algorithim was set way off... Right. Edit: sent from my iPhone 3g... With 5 bars... ;) |

I just have a 3gs and its great for what i use it for (surfing da net), at&t is just a terrible network
also the signal strength algorithm excuse is hilarious, wtf does it have to do with gripping your phone in your hand and have it drop a call. |

" Software ,iPhone , algorithim, I'm confused but it sure sounds like they fixed it to me!" |
Why not just sell it on Ebay. Seen plenty of them on there going for 3 times what you pay for them. Then buy what ever phone you want.
|
Just walked out of the store, backk typing this from my 3g i got a fuull refund but you should have seen the crazy looks i was getting from otjer customers when i told the clerk i wasn't happy with the reception lol. no stocking fee either. they did try to feed me "you know they are releasing an os upddate for this!" line of bs. no thank you lol. sorry for any typos i cant type worth a shit on here :)

Gizmodo had an entire article about it, I think you can return it no matter where you bought it.
|
so my contact says that you can return your iphone 4 for full refund even without restock fee, says it's what apple announced yesterday
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010...pleletter.html 14 day refund policy on everything, 30 days for iPhone |
I would really wait a couple of months before upgrading, give em some time to work the bugs out. Damn shame, I love my iPhone.
Spanx! Jack |
I returned mine, mine was dropping calls at an insane rate :(
|
I've never had an iPhone, nor do I want one...
|
Is it really that bad? Why would they release it when they know the signal is so horrible? Maybe their stock/hype was dropping off and they couldn't fix the signal problem right now but they knew they could just send out an update later. lol - I have a 3g and absolutely love it. I use it just as much and for the things you said.
Anyone saying they don't want an iPhone is either an old person that ignores new technology for no reason, or has never used one more than the 5 mins they play around on their buddies iPhone. When you actually own one you will wonder why the fuck you didn't get one earlier. Playing around on the one your buddy owns is not giving you the experience of owning one in any way whatsoever. |

Yeah I've never understood the hatred against the iphone either. Whats the alternative...? Google and the android? Verizon? What the hell is the difference? At the end of the day they're all pretty AMAZING phones that essentially do the same thing. I mean, its a fucking mini-laptop with a TOUCH screen. What exactly is not to like? And yeah, it really was that bad. I don't know how they missed it either or if they blatantly ignored it, shame on them. Now that I'm back with the 3g I'm seeing 5 bars pretty much everywhere again... thank goodness. |
