I decided to promote the naked news site and grabbed a domain for it: http://nakedgirlsnews.com
I did a test run on some social networks, these convert well under 1:100 on average.

Since for blogs I work with organic traffic I always test heavily at first.

Shaving clicks? Sounds like it could possibly be a legitimate excuse with the IP address thing.

Should have done a test sign up if you wanted to start accusing people.

This is what it sounds like is happening to me:

- They show hits live, but don't check for uniques live (for load issues)
- Cronjob runs and reduces hits from duplicate IPs after the fact

They wouldn't be the first program who does it this way; despite the fact it's a really inefficient method. They probably took the lazy route, figured no one would really ever notice...

The alternative is, they are shaving off clicks as you suspect, to boast better ratios. They just again, lazily, didn't even do that right, by doing it to people with no sales showing and by updating it after the fact, instead of on receiving the click.

They'd be better off reporting raws then and then have the cron run a few times a day and update the uniques. At least it wouldn't look like there are disappearing clicks, they would just be delayed in reporting Uniques only.

Yeah there are multiple ways to go about it that are much more efficient.

Most companies in adult are run by non-tech people though, and while things "work fine" to them, that doesn't mean things "work optimally". Aside from a rare few people, if they are not (or not able) to push their tech guys to constantly improve their work and find better ways to do things - the majority will never do it on their own. :2 cents:

Giving them benefit of the doubt, why didn't you ask them how they calculate clicks? Is it by unique IP address? Cookies? Both? If its by unique IP's, when do they expire an IP address and count it again as a new click (or new unique visitor)?

Maybe it's just me but it seems like this could have been handled differently.

I am so sick of people saying they weren't paid. When ibill went under we paid, when 365 went under, we paid, when we burned our merchant accounts, we paid. It was either fraud or a mistake that could easily be looked up and dealt with.

As George said we are not shaving hits nor sales.

When counting the number of hits an ip number got. There was a rare
occasion when the ip could not be attributed to his id(a jpg, or partial request to the web page). In some cases this would cause the uniq ip to be assigned to the 0 nnid. Since the stats are updated roughly every 5 mins it was taking uniques from past stats.

This was a minor bug in our system and has since been fixed.

On another note, I would be careful with that domain name. Naked News is a registered trade mark and I'm not sure how that translates legally.

But thank you for your 20 daily uniques, I can retire now.

Although he is fucking with you, that's no way to treat an affiliate. And specially on a public webmaster forum.

nakedgirlsnews.com are not even close to being a trademark infringement. You should be glad he is covering the niche and sending your program the traffic. Someone was once knows as 12-click Ron, but I heard he did well.

I have review sites converting 1 in 18, tube sites under 1 in 150, affiliates getting $60 on one year joins when they are sending to a free trial, so this person sending 20 uniques a day (spending more time looking at stats than marketing) going to the boards is a bad move. I have spent 3 months building this affiliate program, day and night, and to have someone accuse me of cheating them (when its the cleanest, most honest thing I ever touched) angers me. For me I like his domain name and appreciate the effort, I understand the craft behind building up a domain name. I'm just wondering if someone registered GirlsGoneReallyWild.com would get a letter. I am far from a lawyer, so I can't answer that.

Some people hated what XXXJAY did with his meta tags, and marketing tactics, and threatened to sue him, I was always a huge supporter of what he did and respected it. Some owners and lawyers are very sensitive about protecting their name, others appreciate the hard work and skill involved in locking down terms.
