where did the name Twistys come from?
 

i was just looking at a Twistys gallery and was looking at the watermark logo and wondered where the name came from? Shap?

it's a great name, beats calling it GlamourBabes.com or something like that.

Back in the 80s an entrepreneur here in Florida opened a little ice cream store called " Twistee Treats ". He then went on to open several more. His stores were unusual because the buildings were pre fabricated and trucked to the location and then assembled. The building was a replica of an ice cream cone and was just big enough to hold two employees, ice cream and a walk up window. They placed them in shopping center parking lots or where ever they could get a spot. The first model I ever photographed did their TV commercial :)

I'm not saying that's where " Twistys " the website, got it's name as that's something Shap has to answer but that's the first time I heard " Twistyee " and " Treat " used together.

My wife's grandfather owned a private dinner club that was called Twistys (Mutt I believe it was actually in welland). I remember when we tried to come up with a name. We went for a 4 hour walk talking about the site and brainstorming name ideas. The dinner club was really high end with hot waitresses etc.

We started Twistys in 2001. Back then a lot of bigger sites had cheesy tours with a theme. They didn't push content as much as they pushed a theme. So we were going to make the tour look like a high end martini bar entrance where there are tons of chicks inside.

We never went with the tour but the name stuck.

damn, my mom passed away in February, I can't ask her about the club. Definitely wasn't there in my lifetime.

i actually owned NudeGoddess.com - I wanted to do an upscale paysite like Twistys, glamour but the amount of money to shoot that content was too much for me. I didn't consider doing it with licensed content from Matrix. Probably should have.
