More Proof That Sponsors Are Phasing Out The Little Guy

I'm a part time webmaster with a few sites. One of which is a review site. Contacted a sponsor who I've reviewed before about getting my review pass renewed.

After looking into my account, the affiliate manager decided that he wasn't going to renew my password because I've only sent 4000 uniques so far this year.

I understand that, that isn't much traffic but it was insulting when I was told the following;

"because 4000 clicks in a whole year?
some people do that in one hour"

Ouch. I used to send even less traffic then that and was never denied a password. Like I said, it's obvious there are lots of sponsors phasing out small traffic webmasters/webmasters all together.

Shitty.

Stick with cam sites as your main income and you'll be fine.

Arnox 07-16-2010 01:02 PM

The front men in most sponsor programs are absolutely fucking clueless about everything and anything business.

I'm currently working alongside a sponsor who has a 'contact man', he can barely speak English and it takes about 5 different phrasings to actually get through to him what you want.

I refuse to talk to him anymore and just take it on the chin. I wish more aff programs would actually put a contact who:

1. Had an IQ above 80
2. Spoke English
3. Was willing to help

Now there's an affiliate program I'd like to promote. ;)

mafia_man 07-16-2010 01:03 PM

Fuck them.

They burnt a bridge so let them pay. When you become popular send them a nice fuck you message with stats of the traffic you're sending to their competitors.

Poor business practice on their part for sure.

AdPatron 07-16-2010 01:04 PM

Name the sponsor so we can fuck the over.

epitome 07-16-2010 01:04 PM

That is ridiculous. By that sponsors theory, do only the Alexa <25k sites get passwords? How are you expected to grow your site -- and build traffic -- without fresh reviews?

When a sponsor is shitty like that the first thing I think is their members area sucks and they don't want people exposing it.

I have zero cam sites in my arsenal. Right now I have a small review site (all niches), pornstar specific sites, a squirting site and a gf site.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Very few sponsors have good affiliate managers. Seems the bigger they are, the worse the affiliate manager.

It's a pretty big sponsor. My guess is naming them in this thread wouldn't make anyone stop promoting them/send them less traffic. That's why I didn't name them in the first place. :(

For 10 hits per days, i wouldn't give you a free pass to access a member area.
If i choose wisely my galleries, if i submit 5 galleries now, at the end of the year i have still 10 hits per days... but probably only 1 or 2 sales.
So why give you a pass for free in this case ?

Bryan G 07-16-2010 01:14 PM

Hit me up I would love to have you review Naked News Anchors

rafe43119 07-16-2010 01:23 PM

yea, kinda had the same thing happen to me a year or so ago. I was using a sponsors free hosting and it was crap, going down almost every day. So I asked for a user/pass to grab some content for promotion and their affiliate rep told me they wouldnt give me one because I hadnt sent enough traffic and sales. Mind you that the reason I hadnt sent traffic and sales was because every time I put something on the net to promote them their hosting would dissapear.

CashOnClick 07-16-2010 01:25 PM

NwSebas : Hit me up also ICQ 496686944 give you a pass no problem if you want to review any of our sites :thumbsup

pornmasta 07-16-2010 01:26 PM

That's a stupid problem, choose a sponsor with downloadable content...

NBBCash Matze 07-16-2010 01:31 PM

wow that's a little strange indeed, the traffic of reviewsites is just awesome. Who would deny it?

troncarver 07-16-2010 01:40 PM

maybe they are just losing money with the pps they are paying you because although the traffic converts well certainly doesnt mean it retains well

LeRoy 07-16-2010 01:41 PM

That's the worst comment from a sponsor I've ever heard.

They should know review sites convert with a small amount of traffic.

cybermike 07-16-2010 02:08 PM

Turn on your icq :)

cherrylula 07-16-2010 02:11 PM

That isn't proof of anything. You can't expect a business to give you free samples if you aren't going to give them enough biz to make it worth their while. Try smaller program sites or something. They didn't can your account either, or am I reading wrong? Send them some traffic from other sites and you can still make sales. Again, not proof of any such thing. This industry is maturing, that is all.

First things first, I'd like to thank all the good affiliate managers who contacted me in the past hour giving me tips and building relationships with me.

I'd like to also thank those of you who are supporting me in this thread. I plan on contacting those of you who want me to review your site in the next few hours.

As for this comment. I'm not asking them for content, galleries or anything. All I was asking for was access to review their site. I really don't see what they lose from that? Also, I agree the business is maturing. It's maturing to the point where small webmasters/webmasters all together mean nothing to big programs.
