I bet they think that this is a way to immortality or at least to extend their own life. What they don't realize, if this is the case, is that a clone is just a twin. If you made another body just like yours, it's mind would be different from yours, over in that other body, having totally different experiences from yours. Not another you, but another person who looks like you.
