Best Website Creation Software

For the DIY person?

Preferably template based. I need to be able to do up very simple websites in a hurry. They don't have to be pretty as I do not rely on pretty or search engine results. I have some experience with Webeasy, none with Front Page or anything else except vBulletin and PHP forum software.

Looking for your best recommendation.

Sally.

LOL.

So you want website creation software, for the DIYers, but want a template?

Paradox?

Serious note, why not just use Dreamweaver?

LOL

It's coming in Adobe CS100. There will be a big green button in the center of the workspace labeled "Make Bad Ass Website". :rasta

No paradox really but perhaps I should have been more clear in my specification and I ought to have mentioned that I cannot code to any great extent...Like a very small extent.

I suggested that I would prefer a template because of the ease of rinse-and-repeat; that is, the ability to use the basic template for different websites simply by changing basic info, such as the domain name and basic text.

Never tried Dreamweaver, so thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Sally.

Yeah DW has templates, but you may need something simpler like http://www.coffeecup.com/freestuff/

SexMadSam 07-16-2010 11:23 PM

Hey,

Yep Dreamweaver, altough it can be a little clunky, is a good option.

The best website creation software ever is called the "ATM". This software allows you to withdraw money to pay a designer like me.

Well, yeah, I know THAT! Just that times are tough for me lately as they are for us all! In one of those spots in which I cannot afford to pay a desinger but can't afford not to! sometimes life sucks.

here http://www.kompozer.net/ use that its great just started using it and tons of tutorials on utube :)

IF you want a tool with short learning curve and open files and just edit something, then try TopStyle.
If your workflow includes WordPress then Artisteer is an easy solution.
A free alternative to DreamWeaver is Kompozer (portable too).

The real pro use Notepad++, Firebug with at least 6 addons, and an IDE with a good auto complete feature (I simply love NetBeans).

Check out Artisteer.

You can easily make your own custom HTML, Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal or DotNetNuke templates in minutes.

Download the demo and try it out first.

If times are tough I don't think it's a good idea to be a complete newbie in this stuff. :2 cents:

Have you tried wordpress or blogspot?

Front Page is done. It's now called MS Expression Web. They're currently on v4, but I'm using v2. And based on the reviews I've read, v2 is the best version. You can pick up a copy of v2 at Amazon for under $50.

Artisteer is pretty cool. Great way to create a website template exactly how you want it.

But if you don't have much experience with CSS or HTML and you just want to point and click stuff, then maybe you should try something like Wordpress. It's free and your host might have a 1-click install (and most hosts will do the installation if you ask). You just type stuff into boxes, hit the ENTER button, and it'll handle all the formatting and layout. You can have each site up and running within a few hours. I know people that bang out 3-4 new WP blogs every day.

I want to thank you all for your very kind and informative replies! I downloaded Wordpress and I believe that it will be the Cat's Meow for me!

See, the deal is that the guy who has been doing my websites for me has gone walkabout due to alcohol and drugs, so he has become unreliable as Hell and I can't afford his own version of Jane's Addiction.

I found my old modeling slides and just as soon as I decide which one is best, I'll change my pic to it. Yes, I really do have a 39" inseam. Slides are a litttle grubby after having been stored for 10 yrs but they willl clean up and scan quite well. Should have this done in the next few days.

Thanks again, hugs and kisses!

Sally!

I write all my sites with a text editor but I bought that software a few years ago to see if I could bang out more sites every day.

They have not updated the software in years but I built about 20 sites a few years ago as a test and it generates some funky ass html code but google gave all 20 sites good ratings and the sites continue to sell and rate well on google

How about wordpress? Choose your theme, upload, and add your content. Site finished!

Yeah, I'm working with it now on a sort of learning basis. I think it's the key.

Sally.
