I do agree with your original post...there is a lot of waste of life in the world today. Whenever I have kids, I get the feeling that I'll have to explain to them daily that the fucked up things they're observing are not good, not cool, etc. and try to keep them normal and sane.

I lived in the SF Bay Area 20 years ago, and Oakland was a total shithole then. Since 1989, there was a lot of damage caused by the Loma Prieta quake (pancaked freeways, anyone?), fires in the alleged rich part of town--the Oakland Hills--which destroyed hundreds of home, and crime wave after crime wave.

Oakland is still a shithole, whatever spin the folks who live there--whatever their race--put on it.

So do the world and yourself a favor: don't have kids.
