I love me my FCP 7. I was all over Premiere...but meh.

Yes, well that is for most.
We mainly use Mac for editing, but....

Vegas, but I've heard a lot of good about FCP.

Smokieflame 07-20-2010 09:52 PM

yes FCP is for Mac, so if you are on PC i would go with Adobe Premier. However if you want flawless editing, easy to use tools, and fast render times you will want to go with FCP. Adobe takes 3 to 4 times as long to render as FCP. And due to Adobe being windows you are bound to have glitchy issues where as you wont with Macs. It was a pricey upgrade for me but was WELL worth every penny.

I dunno I think mac is just happy not being compatible with anyone.

Since my grade 9 comp sci class in the days of the apple... when i snuggled close to the nerdy guy next to me in the front row... (who moved to the back after a week... sigh..).... Mac has not been by best friend...

Macs have came ALONG way since then LOL. Macs now can run windows if you choose (i dont personally) everything you can get for Windows you can get on Mac pretty much/ Macs are extremely user friendly, glitch free, virus free... I no longer use PCs at all for anything.

I'm a Sony Vegas fan.

Final Cut Pro on Mac, and Vegas Pro on PC

NaughtyRob 07-22-2010 02:30 PM

Very easy to use and cheap, I use Pinnacle HD. On my Mac Final Cut Pro. (my all time favorite)

icymelon 07-22-2010 02:32 PM

I hate to say final cut.

Amputate Your Head 07-22-2010 02:34 PM

Final Cut.

noKru 07-22-2010 03:07 PM

depends on the job, Vegas or Premiere

SA-Richard 07-22-2010 03:13 PM

Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro and Pinnacle HD

There you have it. Final Cut Pro is the most popular NLE.

SGS 07-22-2010 03:35 PM

Dedicated Siren purpose built pro editing PC suite and Premier

MK Ultra 07-22-2010 04:01 PM

I use Final Cut Pro, Premiere CS4 and Vegas Pro 9, each has their strong and weak points.

FCP and Premiere are big, cumbersome and slow, if I was editing an Indie film or TV show and had all the time in the world to finish I would use FCP first and Premiere second.

But I make porn:love2suck
and for speed and ease of use you can't beat Vegas, and I find myself falling back on it when it's crunch time and I have a lot of work to get finished in a short amount of time.

I also prefer Vegas for making trailers because it can do something neither FCP or Premiere can do, you can have multiple instances of Vegas open on your desktop and copy and paste between the timelines.

That way you can have a trailer under construction in one Vegas and the source content open in another and switch back and forth between the two (or more)
This is a feature I have found invaluable time and time again, and it's why I'll never completely stop using Vegas
