I Went And Saw INCEPTION Last Night...

Wow incredible flick! One of the best movies i have seen in a while... The ending really throws you for a spin!

Anyone else check it out yet? My local movie theatre was fucking PACKED! Sold out the first showing and i had to sit very close to the front to catch the second showing.

They must be banking HARD on this one, the last time we had a sold out show in our town was for Twilight and probably before that it was years ago! :thumbsup

CaptainHowdy 07-21-2010 06:05 AM

Opens next week on my country, can't wait...

rokoroko 07-21-2010 06:21 AM

I cant wait for this one too !

I am interested in Lucid Dreaming and OBE in my own experience - these are the best 3D reality "movies" I have ever had :-) ,so this movie is a long time in my target !

thickcash_amo 07-21-2010 07:29 AM

I think I am going to see in Friday....even though I still don't know what the heck its about!!

NetHorse 07-21-2010 07:40 AM

I haven't seen it yet. It must be great though, it's rated higher than the Dark Knight and Avatar. Actually the highest rated movie on IMDB in the last 15 years

cthulhu_waves 07-21-2010 07:44 AM

It's about a bunch of guys who can extract information out of your head and influence people by way of your dreams. But the movie shows how people can create an alien idea it to your head and make it their own. In order to do this, they have to create layers of dreams so that they can weave the idea into the subconscious of the person they would like to influence.

I like the concept really. Like Matrix, it makes you ponder how you perceive reality. But somehow, I find that the execution has problems. Unlike Matrix which went completely crazy, the story is a little overwrought. It also kinda took itself too seriously when you're halfway through. The nonstop talking and explaining things away can be a bit tiring too. The same problems I had found in The Dark Knight.

If you take out the action sequences which seems a little too indulgent, the story would still be whole. The danger aspect of it is a little forced. I also found that the director seems to want to be restrictive on certain aspects of the story. But we're talking about dreams here, and you can do anything when you're in a dream right?
There is also a big question mark almost through the end which you will encounter when you watch it.

I was actually waiting for one of the characters to do a doublecross, but it didn't happen.

fpaul90 07-21-2010 08:14 AM

I saw it a few days ago, and i believe it is better than the dark knight and avatar, its a bad ass movie

I was actually waiting for one of the characters to do a doublecross, but it didn't happen.

The dream had to seem as real as possible, so the mark wouldn't wake up, or know that he was in a dream. This is why there was no flying around or shooting fireballs from their fingers -- if anything out of the ordinary happened, the mission would be a fail.

I'm glad there was no doublecrossing. That's getting old, and you can see it coming from a mile away, or at least expect it to happen.

I too went and saw Inception last night! A very deep and intricate plot. Not a movie for dumb people. And I agree the ending was twisted.

2MuchMark 07-21-2010 11:03 AM

(No Spoliers)

I saw it in IMAX on the weekend and loved it. I feel like I may have missed some details so I want to see it again.

Even though the movie was over 2 hours long, I felt like it could have been even longer. There are many "rules" in this movie, and to me they could have gone a little more along in explaining them.

For example (no spoliers, I promise). Sometimes, people stare at certain characters. This is explained but only as a one-liner. I thought it was really interesting and thought they would get into more detail but they didn't. Does the reason they stare parallel anything in the "real world"?

Not sure if I liked it as much as The Dark Knight. DK had Heath Ledger as Joker which I thought was some of the best acting I had ever seen. Inception still has great acting from the whole cast, but there were no stand-outs. Otherwise, great movie.

ps: If you see it, see the IMAX version. Not only is it a huge stunning image, but it is SO FUCKING LOUD at some points it really adds to the thrills. Oh, and they are showing an extended preview of TRON in the IMAX FORMAT as well. WOW!!!

I love movies...

Chosen 07-21-2010 11:07 AM

Going to see it for sure :thumbsup

I can sometimes Lucid Dream. I can't do it all the time but the simply trick is to just realize and accept you are dreaming, then you can control it. As silly as it sounds, for me it's usually a phone call or something very small that I know for sure is not real. Example, my mom calls and she is on vacation in Germany. In my dream I realize that my mom is not there and BOOM, I'm running shit in my dream until I wake up. Just like that.

Wish I could do it every time but I can't.

I usually have freaky vivid dreams if the room is AC cold. Concerning the weird time stuff in the movie -- I remember having a this long epic dream that ended with me watching a rocket take off, then crash in huge loud fireball. When I woke up, it was in the middle of a thunderclap during a storm. Try to figure out the temporal implications of that. How can my mind come up with this complicated dream to lead up to a crash that coincides with the noise outside? There's no such thing as time in that fucked up world.

The end of Jacob's Ladder goes into this also -- Jacob lived an entire alternate life inside of his head during the seconds he was dying on the battlefield.

What if you're dream is the reason it thundered?

They say we only use a very small percent of our brain when we are awake, a little more when we sleep. Who knows what we are really capable?

J. Falcon 07-21-2010 03:12 PM

Looking forward to seeing this one.

Adam X 07-21-2010 05:32 PM

Sounds right up my alley.. I've gotta hit the IMAX.

Studied lucid dreaming and astral projection after studying meditation and healing at Berkeley Psychic Institute.. some wild experiences I'll not soon forget.

NetHorse 07-27-2010 06:05 AM

lol How can you even compare those. Dark Knight was awesome, Inception is awesome, Avatar looks like a bad joke between these movies. Its like asking whats a better drink, water or your own pee.

CaptainHowdy 07-27-2010 06:43 AM

Will definetively check it out...

Jman 07-27-2010 06:45 AM

Inception was a great movie, saw it last night... but they could of cut 20-30 min off the flick and nothing would of changed.

Raf1 07-27-2010 07:03 AM

it opens here in a few days and I'm going to see it for sure after all the good reviews this one has been getting.

I saw all three and place avatar right up there... I'm guessing you didn't avatar see it at an IMAX theater?

Nope, I wanted an unbiased opinion about the movie, not the effects. And the movie is a joke in 2D.

pornmasta 08-01-2010 03:51 AM

I watched it yesterday, nice movie but if you think about the concept, it can't work.

About the imdb rating... that will settle down after it has been out for a while. It won't stay at #3 for too long.

gleem 08-01-2010 08:01 AM

I thought it was pretty good except all the really cool effect parts were in all the trailers, so that kind of ruined it for me, and after about an hour I was sick of hearing about his wife, since it was obvious that they were building her up to do something really scary and it never really happened that was dissapointing. Found myself looking at my watch wondering when they were going to rap it up. I don't think it was as big of a mind fuck as other movies made before it, I think Nolan's best made movie was Memento by a distance and I don't think there was a single special effect in the whole movie.

I give it 3/4 stars.

sojproductions 08-01-2010 09:03 AM

its a great movie, one tip... don't watch it with a hangover, you'll get dizzy and your head will explode.

gmr324 08-01-2010 09:10 AM

I saw it last week and was very impressed. The actors and actresses earned their money on this flick with all the sub-plots.

J. Falcon 08-01-2010 08:13 PM

Just got back from watching this and I must say it fucking rocked.

I saw it last night...I thought it was just ok.
My biggest problem was the dialogue...I just thought the way they spoke to each other and they way the described things seemed a bit cheesy.
Aside from that, I thought it was an entertaining movie.

Ethersync 08-02-2010 06:38 AM

Great movie! I am going to see it again.
