Where did all the HAITI donation money go?

Just wondering ?? Was it around 20 billion dollars that was saved for Haiti?

GFY has always been a generous board...

It got skimmed off by the crooks who run Haiti.

Probably a % went back in US and EU bank. Under the accounts of govt officials, of course.

Same place donations usually go.
  • 70% to the company taking the money
  • 20% on advertising
  • 9% on chocolate biscuits
  • 1% to who actually needs it

You are being pretty optimistic about that 1%, glad to see there are people who haven't completely lost their faith in humanity...

Was wondering why Tesco had their bourbon biscuits on offer!!! Nice!!!

I heard a lot of it went to Wyclef's campaign.

I have no clue, but I put in applications at many places with an offer to go help out down there for free repairing IT infrastructure or even creating it in the first place. No one has gotten back to me in any meaningful way.

My friend with 2 tours in Iraq also put in an app at over 30 places and has also yet to hear anything about helping out down there.

Both our offers are still valid.

Most of the money never went where it was promised.

its not the 1st or the last time this kind of scam will take place. Generally the people who need the funds the most, will never ever get any of it, by the time it gets filtered down from the top.:2 cents:

How much do you think it would cost to rebuild Haiti to its original state? Twigs and trash do not cost that much.

People bitching about companies taking the money... well how about the governments who promised money?

In July, as much as 98% of the rubble from the quake remains uncleared. An estimated 26 cubic yards (20 m3) million remain, making most of the capital impassable.[210] Thousands of bodies remain in the rubble. The number of people in relief camps of tents and tarps since the quake remains at 1.6 million, and almost no transitional housing has been built. Most of the camps have no electricity, running water, or sewage disposal, and the tents are beginning to fall apart. Crime in the camps is widespread, especially against women and girls. Between 23 major charities, $1.1 billion has been collected for Haiti for relief efforts. Two percent of the money has been released.[211][212] According to a CBS report, $3.1 billion was pledged for humanitarian aid and has paid for field hospitals, plastic tarps, bandages, and food, plus salaries, transportation and upkeep of relief workers. By May 2010, enough aid had been raised internationally to give each displaced family a check for $37,000
Fact is no one really gave a shit. It was all pretend, picture opts and feel good speeches.

The first sign that money would get lost in red tape was how all the emergency supplies and aid sat at the airport for days while they tried to figure out how to disperse it.

I would think that with all the money aimed at Haiti relief a board of intelligent planners could architect a way to completely rebuild the city in a way that would get them on the right track to a positive economy. It's understandable that it's their country and the US can only get so much involved.

I used to give when I could but there are sooooo many scammers out there I quit giving altogether. I watched a couple boys standing outside a store with cans saying they were seeking donations so their baseball team could go to a tournament. Once they got enough money in the can they were going in the store and buying ice cream and stuff.

A guy was sitting outside grocery stores with a German Shepherd and said he was collecting donations to provide local police dogs with protective vests. Looked legit and the dog made your heart melt. Local TV did an investigation and found that his " charity " had collected a lot of money over the past year but had yet to provide a single protective vest to any police department and he had a prior arrest and conviction for some other fraud :disgust

Just the other day a 20 year old girl was roaming the neighborhood with her baby and would knock on doors saying her baby was very hot and they needed relief from the heat as their car had broke down. Once inside she would distract the owner and then ransack the rooms looking for cash and jewelry.

People that prey on the kindness of others are scum of the earth. :disgust
