Do you work from home or from an office away from home?

I was thinking about renting office space but for the amount I'd spend in a year on rent I could fix up a room in my home pretty nice or even build a small 15 X 15 building behind my house. Do you guys have any preferences as to location?

Everybody is different. Do what will make you more productive.

I get up between 8 and 10am in the morning, make coffee, read and respond to emails, check gfy, check the feeds for extremefeeds to make sure they're working, check stats for fetishbucks. Then I read my facebook, Fark, Huffpo, Salon. Shower, check the email one more time, head off to the office to work with the programmers, encoders and html guys, stay til midnight if I can get away with it without the gf going insane.

Get up and do it again. It's a good life.

Wherever you have the least distractions is usually best but working connected to the internet the biggest possible distraction is going to be right in front of your face.

Been working from home for nearly 10 years now. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Rent with No Garage is cheaper than Rent with Garage.

Wasted overhead unless you have a staff or needs that dictate you be in an office.

Invest the money in growing your business instead.

i do both, i rent an office that is about a mile from my house so i can walk there but i work from home, usually in the morning and then head to the office for the afternoon to have a work environment that is free of distraction

I do both. The company I work for has an office and I work remotely. I report to the office when there's a briefing on new initiatives or SEO/content strategy training/brainstorming

Now I work from home, but some time ago we rented an office. Sadly my friends moved to other cities, so we work from home now, again.

I work from home mostly, sometimes I work on the beach at the lake cottage lol,

I've been planning on converting my 2.5 car garage into my mancave / studio office ever since Mrs.Loki got pregnant.

Right now were tight on bedrooms here, so my current office will become my oldest daughter's room, her old room will be my youngest's room and I'll move out to the garage where I can get away from all the female hormones lol.

I just need the time and extra cash to finish the garage and get everything setup (hoping sometime next year it will be finished)

It WILL be sweet though!, One half will be the studio/office with all my computer stations, and the other half will have the pooltable, darts, a few pinball games, big screen TV and last but not least a hot tub.

Both.....work at job then go home and work!

I rented a small appartment to use as an office, and ended up moving my clothes & other stuff there too, sleeping there more often than at home lol.. now I'm back home, one room acts as an office, but longterm plan is similar to what Loki described, house with a room / mancave, computers + small gym + pool table + tools :)

I used to have an office I got for free... its good to have friends like mine. But he since sold his business so I was moving at about that time and I made sure where I ended up had a room I could use for my office. So now I work exclusively from home for the computer portion of my work.

I love my home office, big closet for camera equipment, and a couch that I sleep on sometimes when whatever lady friend I have sleeping over is here if she is a tosser and turner lol and I just watch TV on my computer.
