SEO Experts: #1 in google to not listed at all

No site changes made, went from #1 to not being listed. Can't find the site. Clearly got penalized for something but how to know what for if you didn't make any changes?

baddog 08-03-2010 12:17 AM

950 penalty?

mafia_man 08-03-2010 12:20 AM

Did you buy hardlinks anywhere? If they used blackhat techniques to get ranked then you can be penalised too.

Gasper 08-03-2010 01:25 AM

how long ago was this? maybe wait a few days to see it come back

Exactly what I was going to ask. I have had sites that have good rankings disappear then 2-3 days later they are back in their normal spot.

ilbb 08-03-2010 01:29 AM

google dance

Denny 08-03-2010 01:35 AM

That's normal :error

Yeap... I've seen some of my sites disappear from the serps for 1-2 weeks and later on they come back to page 1.....

U have to check whether or not your site is still indexed... if it isn't then ur fucked

madawgz 08-03-2010 01:48 AM

it should come back

Black Ops 08-03-2010 04:19 AM

No, didn't buy any hard links. No updates. Nothing. I've lost ranking before but never totally taken out of the machine.

I curse the google gods.

The PR update, while not on any true schedule, is overdue from it's expected arrival. Maybe she's finally dancing.

CunningStunt 08-03-2010 04:26 AM

Saying "it should come back" is neither here nor there.

What do you get when you type in:

site:yourdomainname.com?

Post the results.

seeandsee 08-03-2010 04:37 AM

Not true.

Either, you just met the Mayday or you have new backlinks and you're dancing a bit.

LaoTzu 08-03-2010 04:41 AM

Tell us about the site. A while back, Google delisted all of a certain type of TGP script, presumably as a test. A week later, all the sites returned.

You may have existing link trades with sites that may now be deemed "bad neighborhood" sites. Check your outbound links for sketchy sites that Google may have issues with. Remove those links.

Any chance of a site hack? Check your .htaccess file and robots.txt.

What's the niche? Do you have user-generated content? Check that stuff for spam.

BettingHandle 08-03-2010 05:27 AM

Trichstir 08-03-2010 05:36 AM

mikke 08-03-2010 05:40 AM

Bullshit ...

You won't be penalized for what or whomever links to you.
How the fuck can you control that? And even better if that was the case it would be very easy to put someone out of business.

G only take actions because you fucked up at your own website ... links out, backlinks, blackhat seo tech .... etc ..

This will show if you really do have some time out in the sandbox :thumbsup

myneid 08-03-2010 03:14 PM

google changes their algorithm constantly. they make minor modifications about every 2 weeks and they roll out some pretty big changes to the indexing about once per quarter.
google has a great webmaster tool that should give you info about your site that could help you, just search for google webmaster tools

:1orglaugh so it's easy to take out the competition, just buy hardlinks to their sites :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:error:1orglaugh

I'd maybe ask in another thread, with far less information.

Good Luck!

scubadiver626 08-03-2010 05:42 PM

Googles bans are not permanent. Had a kick ass listing on a 11 year old domain.

Got heavy with blackhat and it was delisted from google. No worries. It got picked up again in a couple years, just do the right thing.

Would you like to detail some internal blackhat SEO techniques? Blackhat is all about links from other sites. Shit you do internally doesn't affect things, only if you do something wrong would it fuck up your rankings. For instance having robots.txt deny access.

Yes you can be penalised if your site is spammed all over the net. Yes you can lose rank or be wiped out completely by other people.

The only way of getting around this is by having enough legitimate links to justify your position. When I said hardlinks before I meant on spam sites, or sites that have recently turned spam.

I'm sure we'll see all the hates selling their SEO techniques in 'Buy and Sell' soon anyway.

The blind leading the stupid.

GoNe 08-04-2010 01:18 AM

There are no more Google dances now after they launched caffeine. There are so many factors to consider when trying to analyze ones drop in the serps.

If you know you are doing something that is considered blackhat or borderline (greyhat) that could be it. For example keyword rich nonsense text somewhere on the page which is the same color as the bg.

I know you said you didn't buy backlinks but another thing you could get penalized for is for buying backlinks from well known backlink sellers.

No. You simply appeal or send a re-inclusion request to Google. It's not that hard.

This is assuming you were not caught red headed maliciously doing some bullshit.

Yes, I've heard u can do that however I haven't heard from 1 person who was successful getting his site re-included in the SERPs after sending a re-inclusion req (yeap, I have a nice network).

Sure there's got to be a few re-inclusions on a case-by-case basis but I mean, I have tested some shit with some sites of mine and I abused the hell out of them just to see how far I could push the envelope and after doing some moderately hardcore shit my site was still on the serps... sure it disappeared for a week or so but it then came back (it was still indexed btw)

If u get completely de-indexed you're obviously trying to break google's heart or some shit like that, at which point.... not even a romantic re-inclusion notice will help

Obviously if you're ranked with clean links from popular blogs and the like you're not going to be de-indexed over something like that.

My post detailing those that use bought links/trades as a sole means of traffic generation. Read most TGP/MGP/Tubes etc.

I have. So now you know one person who has done it. There is a form you fill out and fax over to them. You can also do it in Webmaster Tools, or Analytics. I can't remember which.

OK then.......... this is a remarkable night for me. I got to meet the first person to actually get re-included in Google's heart. Very impressive indeed, must have been an important domain...

Cheers! :thumbsup

It's Webmaster Tools! Once you log in, just look in the yellow box in the left column. There's a link there that says 'Site Reconsideration'. That's what you need.

I knew it was one of them. I couldn't remember which. I preferred to fax in my info.

I wanna say it took 6 weeks or something. Maybe 2 months.
