screen capturing software?

I'm planning to take lots of screen caps. Do you know any good program that can take snapshots of an active screen and save it in the right dimensions?

UFGators2007 08-03-2010 01:41 PM

Maybe Snapshot 3 if you're a windows user. You can choose how much of the screen to capture in custom handling, though you may be looking to resize an image after capturing the full screen: http://www.softpedia.com/progScreens...hot-73493.html

Mac already has it built in.

On any Windows computer, just press the PrntScrn button and it will copy the screen.

For more sophisticated use you can use the free IrFan View image viewer, it has some nice automatic screen capture options.

You might have a button on your keyboard that is titled "Print Screen." You can press this button and then you can enter an image editing software such as Paintbrush, Irfanview or Photoshop. You can then "Paste" the screen shot into the software of your choice.

You can also press "Alt"+"Print Screen" to capture only the active window (not the whole screen).

if you just need to capture stills (so no video), Irfanview is there for you. It's an amazing piece of software to view and quick edit pictures...and it's freeware.

FastStone Capture . I use only this

I'm also looking for a screen cap software, more specifically for Firefox. What I've discovered though is that many of the Firefox programs capture the entire webpage, which is great, but they leave off the actual url of the page. Anyone able to help on this front?

Fireshot is amazing! Great firefox plugin

You already found winsnap but this is what I have always used in the past.

EVERESS 12-20-2010 05:49 AM

On windows 7 you can screenshot anything easily. So I'm assuming your not on it yet.

Eiither way Cantasia Studio is the best screen and Video capture I have used

Sunlover 12-29-2010 10:43 PM

I use the Fireshot plugin for Firefox; it has great cropping and annotating tools. They make a pluin for IE too, which I have not used.
Here is the URL for the Fireshot:
http:[slash slash]screenshot-program.com/fireshot/
(I'm not allowed to post actual URLs yet because I'm not up to 30 posts)

I tried Screenshot Elite and didn't like it as much as Fireshot.

Chrome has one built in that I tried a couple of times and its pretty slick too.
Regards,
Sunlover
