U.S. Soldiers Pack Their Bags

U.S. troops pack up millions of items in Iraq - Aug 2010
Soldiers are now doing inventory and accounting in preparation for exit

[LINKHOTTED]
Iraqi truck drivers help guide a U.S. military mine-resistant armored vehicle (MRAP) onto a flatbed truck set to leave Iraq at a staging yard at Joint Base Balad, north of Baghdad, Iraq. Everything from helicopters to printer cartridges are being wrapped and stamped and shipped out of Iraq in one of the most monumental withdrawal operations the American military has ever carried out.

JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq ? Everything from helicopters to printer cartridges is being wrapped and stamped and shipped out of Iraq. U.S. military bases that once resembled small towns have transformed into a cross between giant post offices and Office Depots.

Soldiers who battled through insurgents and roadside bombs are now doing inventory and accounting. Their task: reverse over the course of months a U.S. military presence that built up over seven years of war.

:2 cents: Good luck guys. If it goes anything like the pullout from Desert Storm, half that shit will be buried in a pit out in the Iraqi desert, the other half will take days of continual washing to get all that fucking sand out. :rasta

HOOOOOOAAAAAHHHH!!!

Vendzilla 08-03-2010 06:28 PM

At least some of them are coming home

GetSCORECash 08-03-2010 06:33 PM

Tell me when we get out of Afghanistan.

theking 08-03-2010 06:41 PM

The son of one of my old comrade in arms...just left for Iraq in June...it is his third tour in Iraq and he has severed two tours in Afghanistan. His twenty will be up during this tour and he has not made up his mind if he is going to stay for thirty...or get out at twenty. He is a helicopter pilot...and he is a W-4. His wife is also a helicopter pilot and they have served together on three of his five tours...but she did not go with the unit on this tour...she is currently a helicopter instructor...state side.

Where do they stage all that equipment for cleaning before bringing back to the states? Or do they really just leave a lot of it in some bunker in BFE; "bum fucked Egypt"? For some reason, I thought I read an article saying it would take years to properly clean and bring back most of the equipment so as to not bring back contamination ( bugs, seeds, snakes on planes, spiders on ships, etc.).

I hope it is true, but it sure sounds like a propaganda piece to me :2 cents:

They'll set up massive lots with power washers. Crews will pw that shit until it passes inspection. That could be 12 hours or 3 days. (per vehicle). Anything that is deemed "a piece of shit" will be burned & buried.

Around 6 of my high school buddies had take off ceremonies today to head over to Afghanistan.

Gouge 08-03-2010 08:14 PM

Goodbye Iraq, Hello Afghanistan!

bronco67 08-03-2010 08:54 PM

It'll be 12 hours after they leave when Islamic outlaws rule Iraq(totally)

I hate to break the news to you but they are needed elsewhere. Secondarily, this is a stunt due to the upcoming elections where the Dems are about to be slaughtered.

Did they ever find the WMDs they went there for?

The Poser should bring ALL of our troops from both Iraq and Afghanistan home NOW!

"Hey, Obama!

What do you say?

How many kids did you kill today?"

There is nothing in either of those sand and rock pits worth a single American life! Iraq has oil, Afghanistan has heroin. We do not need Iraqi oil if we chose to not need it and we sure as Hell don't need Afghani heroin. If there are terroists in Afghan, we know where they are so we should just carpet bomb the shit out of them and split.

If they attack our shores, then we hit them back, twice as hard and keep hitting them until they stop. We do NOT need ground troops to do this! We need our people HOME and HOME NOW!

Sally.

Cause we're going there next.

It will be interesting to see if Iraq goes the way of Iran and the world ends up in even a worse mess than before the invasion.

Sorry Sally, this tactic does not work. The Israelis have been doing it for decades and will keep doing it for decades and it will not change a thing.

I think it was Bin Laden who said something like this "Muslims welcome death and Americans fear it."

And it wasn't Obama who sent them. He's bringing them home.

He didn't send them but it is an agreement that President Bush made with the Iraqi government that is bringing them home.

Another lost war?

nico-t 08-04-2010 05:13 AM

world economy in the shitter, countless lives of soldiers and civilians wasted, killed a dictator who didnt have anything against the US to begin with (this was symbolic for the media to try to show that they were there to dethrown him which is bullshit ofcourse), what a fucking waste. All this so the suits in the government top have another little oil source to makey money off of. A crime by them of world scale, using their own civilians to sacrifice their lives for the top dogs' pockets. That's why I would never join the army, it isnt about 'defending your country' anymore, you are just being used by businessmen with your life on the line, not for you or your families safety but for more money for those corrupt assholes in politics and linked companies. It's really fucking sad.

TheDoc 08-04-2010 06:32 AM

Finally.... I know some troops are staying, but at least the bulk is on it's way out.

We aren't at war with the Country of Afgan either. Our last President might have thought so, but that isn't what is happening today. But like before, we are left with the cleanup bill.

Nikki_Licks 08-04-2010 08:45 AM

Arizona just sent quite a few over seas the other day, their destination, I don't know.....so much for bringing the troops home :disgust

They are just packing up to get ready for the assault on Iran. All my Israeli friends are telling me Iran is going to get invaded within months:2 cents:

Damn, did you do too many drugs or something? It takes some serious fucked up brain cells to try and relate not having an H in an abbreviation with the armed forces at any level.

Clearly you have enough brain cells left to comprehend what I said, that's a bonus. But I still recommend you put the crack pipe down and save the few cells you have left.

You might check with the Gawdalmighty "United" Nations of Third World Countries, which has issued more than one sanction agaisnt Iran for its violations of mandates and treaties regarding nuclear weapons development on that one. It is not necessary for the USA to "go there" other than in the form of repeated air and naval strikes to eliminate Akmajineboob's nuclear weapons project, which is an entirely different kettle of nuclear fish. Various allies of the USA will assist in that little party as those nations, being far more civilized than Iran, understand the danger and are willing to cooperate to do something about it.

It is not "whirled Peas" which is threatened by Iran but the entire world. It should also be noted that The Poser is giving nuclear and space technology to................Indonesia, which island nation has announced its intention to contruct..............Hydrogen Fucking Bombs.

And do tell, just exactly why does INDONESIA need Hydrogen Fucking bombs?

Sally.

Then when and if the USA is attacked at home, since you say that such attackers welcome death, leave none of the attackers alive. See how easy that is? Problem solved.

Sally.
