A lot of people not going, backing out, or whatever. This is not the first thread like this.

I guess people do not like Florida in August.

Vick! 08-04-2010 02:43 AM

If you cannot sell it, why not just go there? 1k is wasted anyway, waste another and enjoy.

crazytrini85 08-04-2010 05:12 AM

Its going to be a very small show. Hearing rumors from someone I know that it may be the last summer show due to extremely low registration.

If you think this one is bad, wait until January's show.

im going to florida...but to a private show...id love to get out and show memberchannels to more people. however i didnt think there would be enough to warrant the trip to the westin.

With the prices of these shows increasing and the number of people attending decreasing, it just isn't worth it to get on a plane and go unless you're tying in some vacation time with it.

I only work part time in adult these days, but even if I was doing it full time, anyone I need to contact and do business with has ICQ, email, or understands the concept of picking up a phone and saying "hello?" so it just isn't worth the cost.

Plus the humidity in Florida in August is horrible. Step outside and your balls are pasted to your thigh from the sweat.

Redrob 08-04-2010 05:52 AM

At least if the show really sucks, you can drive down to Key West in a couple of hours for a day of diving and merriment or hit South Beach for some late night partying.

Pipecrew 08-04-2010 05:53 AM

hotel is probably not even close to full like past years and if people are going they already booked.

TeenCat 08-04-2010 05:55 AM

i would buy, but its like 16 hours by airplane from here so maybe next time :)

Exactly, there can't be that much demand 2 days before the show starts.

I just arrived in Florida for a show, but it's Fetishcon in Tampa... A show I actually profit on.

Bump for mike

Amputate Your Head 08-04-2010 05:22 PM

Move that room 3000 miles west, and a few hours south to Cabo, and I'm down for it. :thumbsup

RyuLion 08-04-2010 05:41 PM

Good luck..here's a bump..

Ethersync 08-04-2010 05:51 PM

tough times

You could basically hear a mouse fart from 100 feet last year, and someone thought this year was going to be better?

For me the low attendance of the last few didn't turn me off, but watering it down and making it a combo show that largely seems to be catering to novelty did.

Novelty has their own gigs, IMO throwing everyone together works about as good for the show as it does for the magazine. :2 cents:

This room is a hell of an offer. Honestly it almost made me flip and change my mind. $400 for 4 nights is a steal of a deal for that hotel. Too bad there's not a way to change the dates.

I doubt you can, but Newbie if they will let you change the dates to another weekend this month I will snag it from you.

I had to back out of the Internext / AVN show in Miami this year for schedule conflicts and it kills me. I have always enjoyed the Miami show and I have always considered it a highlight of the year. Last year's was noticably smaller but it didn't mean it was any less worth the price of the badge. Even if you don't close deals, there's nothing like kicking back, drinking Mojitos and talking business surf-side.

The show is very well organized and the Hotel is beautiful. Pricey? Maybe, but worth it? Absolutely. Never not-go to a show just because others aren't. Go to a show to expand your business. Even a small show can yield lots of opportunities.

Cheers!

KillerK 08-04-2010 11:37 PM

This will be the smallest and worst show ever for AVN...

Jim_Gunn 08-05-2010 12:33 AM

Should be interesting to see the turnout tomorrow. Ten minute drive for me, and I always get at least one job or something out of even a small show, so well worth it for that and to see friends and business acquaintances.

Paul Markham 08-05-2010 12:49 AM

Seems a lot of the bros who tell us they did so well at last years show. Did so well they don't need to go again. LOL

Miami was always good for a vacation/show. Not great for business. For me.

Thurbs 08-05-2010 02:02 AM

move it to the gaanesvort in s. beach or something ... who wants to be in Hallendale?

NewbieNudes 08-05-2010 02:33 AM

still got the room

Where you now? or you still awake to bump this thread :pimp

james_clickmemedia 08-05-2010 05:30 AM

$400 is a steal...
If I thought it was worth attending that show I would jump at that deal.

It's great if you live in a show city. I would attend more shows myself if it did not involve a 3 hour flight and hotel rooms etc. Dallas is 2.5 - 3hrs from everywhere :)

Nicky 08-05-2010 05:50 AM

That's a great deal, unfortunately I'm like 8,000 miles away :)

If you live actually in the show city you could also go home :winkwink:

Ah, that would make sense for why one would want to unload it.
