Missing Arizona child Emmett Trapp found dead, Sylar Newton still missing

The body of 2-year-old Emmett Trapp was recovered today. Emmett Trapp disappeared from his home Monday night after his mother took a nap. When she awoke, the toddler was gone. Search and rescue teams found Emmett?s body approximately one mile from his home at about 11:30 a.m. this morning.


Authorities with the Yavapai County Sheriff?s Office are treating the area where Emmett?s body was found as a crime scene.


According to earlier reports, Emmett?s mother contacted authorities Monday, August 2, 2010 at 8:00 p.m., to report Emmett missing. She indicated the family dog had wandered off with Emmet but the dog returned home. Authorities were on the scene within ten minutes from her 911 phone call.


Sylar Newton disappeared from the same county on July 25, 2010. Though there are similarities between the boys, authorities have not said they believe the cases are connected.
