I frequent ALOT of message boards on the left, right, in the biz and in between and Im going to tell you the chatter thats been going on overall in the last year or two is insane. Its even worse than the Bush era. People are going to die over the shit thats going on right now in America. Its just a matter of what spark lights this tinder box.

No civil war will happen over what's going on, we're so far away from that it's not even a remote possibility. It's not a split Country, the majority truly don't give a shit... the rest are split and the Conservative/right wing movement isn't big enough to do anything or even take the first step. They can't even get it going in Texas, they aren't going to get it going across the rest of the Country either.

I don't see a civil war happening. I see a revolt of fed up people happening. The final straw might be the war on Iran they have planned.

Let me get GFY appropriate for a minute, are you saying you think there will be a revolt against the US government and it will be a mix of different ideological people from each extreme?

Of course... only the extreme "right wingers" will be in the revolt against the Gov. - that's a minority of people that would actually do it. The majority of Americans, don't care enough about what's going on to move a muscle. The right movement doesn't have enough steam to pull this off in a city, let alone a state or the federal level.

The Gov/States have the police, sheriff, state police, military, reserves, the guard and I'm sure other shit. Which is all mixed politically and racially and all will be given orders that they will obey. They don't cross lines during protests, the don't leave the battle field to join the other team, supporting cops don't quit during riots, even if they don't agree with what's happening - they still do it.

It all comes down to this... a minority of people think like the right wingers and even small minority are willing to die for it.

I have only spent around 6 weeks total of the last 11 years in the USA but from what I see Americans have grown way too conformist and lazy to have anything like a civil war.

We got these spiffy interwebs now where we can take out our frustration flamebating and discussing shit ad nauseum and nobody's going to do anything as long as there are still cheetos to be eaten.

i hope that after the civil war is over they will bring back slavery...

the war is being waged right now. But its not being fought with guns & armies. Its being fought with money & power. The war is between the haves & the have nots...The rich, who control the nations jobs & the media, & the poor dying middle class that slaves away for them. While corporate executives & the ivy league gets fatter & wealthier, the middle class is getting laid off, outsourced, & taxed to death. This economic depression is really the middle class withering on the vine. Meanwhile wall street is back to paying 2007 bonus levels.

Yes, the rich are at war with the middle class. The news is littered with example after example of rich people making decisions to benefit the corporate bottom line...the owners, the shareholders, at he the expense of the customers & employees.

You see it in healthcare, where insurers cancel the policies of the sick, & make policies for individuals unaffordable. If you have no job & you get sick, you are SOL in the USA.

You see it in airlines, where fuel prices have come down, but the new ticky tack fees on baggage remain.

You see it in the food isle, where food makers give you smaller & smaller products for the same dollar. Profit margins get fatter for the owners, but the customers get less & less value.

The war is in the halls of congress, where lobbyists for corporate america water down wall street reform & destroy the public option. Meanwhile the people running for congress are increasingly people who purchase their seats because they are billionaires.

The war continues in the entertainment industry. Movie prices march higher, but movie quality declines; hollywood can only produce sequels & 80s comics now. Tickets at major sporting events are excluding the middle class. Telecoms are about to dispose of net neutrality & create a tiered internet.

The war manifests in every company that hires an illegal alien over an american worker, every company that makes its shoes, toys, clothes, & computers in china. Corporate executives & shareholders win, american workers lose.

The banking industry may be where the war is most obvious, as banks charge $40 fees for overdrafts & check stops, $5 to withdraw your own money, & jack up credit card rates from 20 to 30%% on card holders stuck with maxed out cards. Meanwhile these same banks borrow money from the fed at zero percent, get billion dollar bailouts when their back room derivative bets fail, & pay themselves billions in bonuses. Big Banks are making more money then they've ever made, in one of the worst recessions in a generation.

I could write a book about the oil industries war on americans...how it manipulates price swings to maximize profit margins, how dark market forces drive up the price of oil, how oil companies get the biggest tax breaks of any industry, at the same time being the most profitable industry on earth. BP can dump 200 million gallons of oil into the gulf, wreck the economies of several states, but there's not a whiff of bankruptcy or justice in the air.

Most civil wars are caused by hunger or internal military adventures. So we'll see what happens when the hunger comes or when soldiers start shooting and concentrating rioters.
