Yesterday evening I got a phone call
 

...from the ex wife of a retired Captain...a former comrade in arms...and she informed me that she was coming up to visit with me for a few days. She didn't ask me if that was OK with me...just informed me. I was caught off guard and did not want to be rude so I just accepted the information. I really don't understand why she is coming to visit with me...and I am not really comfortable with it.

I am still in close contact with my former comrade and would not want him to think that something may be going on between his ex wife and I. They have been divorced for something more than a year and as far as I know he is still torn up about the divorce.

I guess I will just have to play it by ear.

In answer to your question...as I stated I was caught off guard and did not want to be rude. I called him a couple of times last night and again this morning but no answer and the last time we talked he was going out of country...so I don't know if he is still out of country. I will try again over the next couple of days as she is not driving straight through.

She is on the road so I cannot contact her...but even if I could...I probably wouldn't.

Well...she has come and gone. She wanted me to intervene in matters that I consider to be none of my business...so I told her no. She also wanted to borrow a significant amount of money which I gave to her...and when I say gave by that I mean I do not ever expect to see it again...although she assured me that she would pay it back. End of story.

BTW...I still have been unable to contact my former comrade...so I assume he is still out of country.

ouch, the intervening part I've experience too. Never good, learned the hard way to stay out of "their" business. If "they are not together, there are reasons for that which I might not know. So better to just stay clear. I think you did the right thing there.
