Which city is better for the most fun? Amsterdam or Barcelona?
 

For overall fun things to do, which city is better? Amsterdam or Barcelona?
What about in terms of proximity to other fun country's?

What other country's are fun to go to? I am thinking Prague, Czech and maybe London, GB?
I mean really fun stuff - clubs, drinks, drugs (pot is legal in AMS for example).

I'm thinking about rolling this into one of the Euro webmaster shows but trying to pick one to go to as they are both on the same date (too bad).

It seems like more people are going to Barcelona now even though in April everyone said WMA, but all those people are now saying TBS in threads...

I like Barcelona much better but Amsterdam is way more central. If you're planning on visiting other countries go with Amsterdam.

Actually the shows are not on the same dates. Webmaster Access Amsterdam starts right after the Barcelona Summit. Why not do both?

Not been in about 3 years now and must admit i am starting to miss it.

Been about 6 or 7 times before and ended up getting sick of it. I guess i just needed time out from the place for a while.

Won't be going this year, but might think about heading out some time next year...

Barcelona is better for business IMO - but I've been to Amsterdam many times, so I'm a bit bored with it. You should try to do both :pimp

Amsterdam and Barcelona are both top fun cities. Whichever one you pick, may it be Amsterdam or Barcelona - you CANNOT lose :)

Other fun places in Europe I would consider Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Ibiza, Mallorca.

In terms of proximity it does not really matter. Europe is not that big. If you are looking into heading out to Berlin, Prague, Budapest the distances are about the same. If you are looking into Mallorca and Ibiza, Barcelona is a lot closer.
As for the travel budget you will probably spend less money using Barcelona as your "base", as all European low budget airlines fly into and out of Barcelona (e.g. Easyjet, Ryanair, Vueling, Transavia, Air Berlin, Wizz Air, etc., etc.). So in that sense Barcelona is more budget friendly.

About clubs, drinks, drugs - again, it does not matter if you go to Amsterdam or Barcelona. Both have awesome clubbing. Both have great drinks (try Mojitos, Cuba Libres and Caipirinhas in Barcelona. Those are all Latin American drinks - but they also "work" in Spain :) ). About drugs, again it does not matter. You can buy them in Amsterdam and Barcelona at every second street corner. Pot is legal in Amsterdam - and in Barcelona it is highly unlikely that you will get into trouble for smoking pot.

As for the show dates - yes, we moved our show dates to provide our North American clients with the possibility to attend both shows.

As for the shows, you might want to try to do both. You will find more North Americans at the Amsterdam show, and more Europeans at the Summit (20% North Americans plus 80% Europeans). Here it depends where the business focus of your trip to Europe lies.

I would recommend you - if you can afford to be away from the office for that long - to fly into Barcelona on September 16th. Then party hard in Barcelona over the weekend. Do the Summit from the 21st to the 24th. Do Amsterdam from 24th to 26th. Visit the Oktoberfest (largest party in the world) from September 27th to 29th, and then fly out to either Prague or Ibiza for some final partying, before heading home totally destroyed. Please calculate a minimum of one week in for recovery after your Euro trip :)

As for the weather - sorry, here it DOES MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE where you will be in September. Barcelona will most likely have beach weather, Amsterdam will most likely have rain waiting for you. So to Barcelona make sure to bring your bathing shorts, to Amsterdam a rain coat.

Good idea, let's all meet in a place where porn is highly illegal. There was a gathering in Pattaya a couple of years ago, nothing happened, so should be plain sailing every time.
