NEW YORK ? A source close to Steven Tyler says the Aerosmith frontman told the source he will be a judge on Fox's "American Idol" next season.

While an official announcement about Tyler has yet to come from Fox and the producers of the top-rated show, the source told The Associated Press on Wednesday, "there is no reason to refute" Tyler's account. The source spoke only on the condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.

Fox and producers FreemantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment had no comment on the report.

The "Idol" judging panel has been in flux with the departure of mainstay Simon Cowell, as well as Ellen DeGeneres' recent announcement that she would not return for a second season.

so then that would make 3 they still need 1 more...

They've said that they are going to keep the panel at three for this season.

Hopefully he takes it over the top with some antics!

Randy is okay, but Simon is the shit and the show is going to suffer without him. He's the only one who ALWAYS spoke the truth no matter how harsh it was. Christ, get Chef Ramsay on there...would be interesting to see how many times Randy would say "It was ait for me dawg" and go to Chef who'd say "That was a fucking embarassment...get the fuck off the stage you DONKEH!" If Simon says what was on everyone's mind, Chef says word-for-word whats on everyone's mind, lol.

The wife and I went to American Idol live last night in Anaheim, she was very happy, I bought the tickets months ago the day they came out, got 16th row. Pretty entertaining show. Siobhan is fucking HOT and does a great performance. Lee the guy that won went to high school with my wife so she was pretty excited.

This will be the last year. Paula was a great asset to the show, and now Simon gone.
They should just shut it down while they are ahead.

I went to it here in SD (can't turn down free 3rd-row ticket) and am in full agreement - Siobhan fucking rocked and was hot to boot. Wore sexy outfits, did good rock stuff, etc. The 3 I was most wanting to see, her, Casey and Mike, did the best. Lee and Crystal were probably right behind them. Overall everyone did better than I'd expected - surprisingly talented group of people despite the season being considered forgettable by most.

At least more will watch the show because of his appearance.
