Adult domains selling well these days?
 

I posted a couple threads in the buy and sell forum selling some remaining adult domains of mine (getting out of the biz since the domain registration fee's alone are costing me 20k+ a year!!!!) and it seems interest is down from a few years ago. How is everyone else's experience here been where traffic/domains/sales are concerned?

Activity seems to be down, but I've also seen a bunch of junk domains that some think should be worth thousands. For instance, your domain niceporn.com you want to start at 15k when in reality you need to see if you can even generate any interest at $1500.

Mainstream I feel is heating up, I just sold 2 of my mine for excellent prices. Also getting a lot more offers

Yeah I hear ya, but I've turned down far more than 1500 in the past. I have never needed to sell any too cheap, they generate revenue on their own. I just think it's time to unload them. Ive had them long enough I suppose. I want to start an H & R Block Franchise this spring, most of my time will be handling that and getting it ready for the Jan thru April rush :winkwink:

I'll entertain a good offer. I've let some doozies go pretty cheap, and I've been shocked when some domains I thought of as crappy sold for big $$$. I've certainly had some surprises over the last 12 years, that is for sure :)

I get more inquiries on the stuff I do not have for sale than the stuff I actively try to sell. Sold a mainstream site with virtually no traffic and little income today to a guy who made an unsolicited offer because he liked the site and saw the potential and was willing to stake his money to make it happen. I hope he does well with it.

Sales are much slower than they were a few years ago for people that don't know much about what they're doing and moderately slower for those that do know what they're doing. Prices are down across the board too, but that's kind of a given at a time when more people have less money to spend.

Well those offers in the past probably would be significantly lower these days based on the market conditions. It won't hurt to put up an auction with a reserve on sedo or ebay just to gauge interest. I'd actually be more interested in finding out why you chose H and R to franchise with? I've been interested in a tax franchise for a while and have looked at a few, just have to take the plunge and give it a shot.

Honestly I'm still not 100% set on H & R Block, but they are from Kansas City and so am I so I figured I'd stay local, plus they are the "best in breed" so to speak, number 1 etc. Their name brand recognition is at the top. I've heard bad things from franchisee's about Liberty Tax. I was also thinking about an Instant Tax franchise. My city is already packed with H&R and JacksonHewitt's SOoooo, I;m not 100% yet. But I am leaning toward H&R.

I agree, it is really odd sometimes. I sold a site with zero traffic "ReeceDesign.com" to REECE.com, for 5k a few years back. I was really surprised.

I can't email you at the moment Rick so here are the domains I'd be willing to part with, either as a package for the 60 domains or piece by piece. Total daily uniques for all combined is well over 1,000 on a bad day. The unique click thru's just to my AFF ad's is over 225 uniques daily from these pages. :thumbsup

I get alot of interest in the premium ones, and they do sell very good. But everything in the sub-5000$ range is hard to sell. Typos do well too...

Domain sales are down across the board - not just adult. However in adult they seem to be hit the hardest. Not only are prices down but also the overall buying activity, which I guess is why prices are down. LOL

LOTS of adult domains available because webmasters go out of biz or not renewing...

even domains with PR and backlinks get available every single day...

I can translate: Sales threads belong in the Buy/Sell area - once upon a time mods around here used to actually do something about threads advertising domains for sale in Fucking Around & Program Discussion, but apparently not anymore.

Yeah I sold a lot of them through the Fucking Around & Program Discussion forum.

I'm picking up awesome adult domains for reg fee these days. Stuff that would have cost a grand or so in 2007. I got an amazing two word teen domain dating from 2000 last week for $9. And sadly unless you have the ability to monetize it $9 would be all it's worth nowadays.

So you're paying $20K in reg fees. How much are you making in yearly revenue from them?

some good domains you got there. I think people are buying, it is just budgets are much lighter. A lot of people still asking to much. The ones who aren't are selling. People are looking to get bargains now and a lot of people need to sell instead of people who want to sell.

Actually I did well in the first quarter, but this Summer has been slow..

Ironically, since this thread started my adult domain sales have stagnated. I've sold nearly $10k in mainstream domains in the past week - zilch in adult.
