What happens to your license when a content company goes out of business?
 

With all the content theft going about these days, what happens when a content company or producer goes down? What about the licenses and the 2257 etc.? I am just curious. I have noticed that there are fewer content companies floating around than there used to be.

Your license should include a period term which is upheld regardless of any possible changes that may occur after between the broker/agent and the studio after your license is issued. Your contract would predate any future contract changes between the agent/studio which is the key factor..but your license should specifically state this in a clause as well.

its why its best to shoot your own content.

buying is cheap short turm - but long turm it can give you grief.

only buy from companies that deliver all documentation right away with the content, i had a couple of people who asked me for specific models for content they bought from Matrix and never got the docs. that content is worthless now

don't buy from companies that only give out licenses for a certain time frame or require renewals.

if you have the 2257 docs and a license that is not limited by time i see no reason why you should not be able to use the content even after the provider went out of business.
