It's official: Yahoo's search results in the U.S. and Canada are now fully powered by Microsoft's Bing. The announcement came on Tuesday, a little more than a year after the two tech powerhouses agreed to combine search forces in order to compete with Google.

I used to get some good traffic from an old site I had listed in their old directory. I see that traffic is gone now.

:(

i'd rather have 3 different majors.

Wonder how the guys who concentrated on optimising for Yahoo rather than Google are doing.

Amputate Your Head 08-27-2010 08:13 PM

Good riddance. (but I never use Bing either).

My friends who are not Internet savvy love BING for directions.

I think BING has directions that are way better than Google Maps.

BINGs traffic converts just like AOL traffic back in the day. Weird

BING attracts low level surfers who don't have a glue.

I've used it on occasion and found it's better than Google. For example, trying to find out when polling places for the Australian election opened, G returned all sorts of irrelevant results, eg articles about elections in the UK from 2006. There was nothing on the first page that lead to the answer.

I tried the same thing with Bing, it still had a few irrelevant results, but #3 or #4 (I forget) was the right one.

Trouble is I (and probably most people) are so used to going to Google that I usually forget Bing is even there. There's been heaps of times that I've given up and closed Google because I can't find the results, when really I should have moved over to Bing...

Yahoo! was fucked from the start, so no great loss as far as I am concerned.

Sally.

Oh no, not Yahoo! What's next? Alta Vista?

has anyone that knows a damn thing about the internet in the last 10 years actually been to Yahoo? Even your clueless Aunt Beatrice knows that Google rules.

There is a lot more to Yahoo than search. It is still one of, if not the, highest traffic sites.
