It was 10 years ago I quit smoking and was paying $1.49 a pack in Florida.

Around here, syracuse area, the indian res smoke shops are in the news all the time. Now they're trying to force non-indians to pay the proper tax to the state as soon as they leave the res. IMHO, you will see "toll" booths exiting the res' before long.

NY has placed massive taxes on cigarettes. It's just under $9 a pack plus sales tax.
