Man killed after confronting cops, police say - Aug 2010

SAN JOSE -- A San Jose man who had tried to kill himself with a nail gun was shot and killed by police Sunday morning after he confronted three officers while holding a knife, police officials said. Police were called to a home on Wong Court about 9:15 a.m. by a woman who said her estranged 42-year-old husband had tried to commit suicide with a nail gun, said San Jose Police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez.

Police tried to contact the man from outside the home. But when he did not respond to repeated requests, officers broke in and found the man with self-inflicted wounds, Lopez said. He was also holding a 10-inch knife, and when he confronted the officers, they shot him, Lopez said. The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the officers in the shooting were also not released.

as a California resident I have witnessed live police brutality on a few occasions, it's obvious many cops are just dying to get a chance to use deadly force against suspects.

A man confronting other people with a knife in hand or pistol in hand could be taken as a serious threat. The police officers had to defend themselves in self defence.

Be careful about holding a toy knife or a toy pistol. These objects could be mistaken for the real thing.
Toy weapons can be mistaken for real weapons, especially when seen from a far distance.
