August Cars & Cafe and I've Got Pics!

We had an awesome turnout for this months event with some very rare exotics but I saw the recent car threads on here
where people were irritated talking about cars they think webmasters will never own so this time I'm going to post
pictures of some cars that showed up that we can all relate to. :winkwink:

I find it funny when someone starts a thread about what car they should buy for $100k
and then someone else chimes in saying nobody on this board can afford to spend that much on a car not knowing there are several GFY members that own R8s, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins a Saleen S7 and even a Bugatti Veyron. :thumbsup

I like Cars and Coffee for the daydream of what I would pick if I could afford it.

It's a shame how things have changed here over the years. It wasn't that long ago a *post your ride* thread was really impressive. Lots of exotic car owners and a handful of multiple exotic owners.

It is a shame and I try my best to keep that spirit alive with threads like this. I appreciate the nice comments
people post and I hope some of those owners you speak of are still lurking even if they have given up on posting.

I'll add some more pics here in a bit.

There is a serious car collector that lives close by and he brought a few of his favorites
including this magnificent one off, Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu with it's blue carbon fiber and polished aluminum.
It's truly breathtaking as it should be at a price around $2.4 million. He also owns a Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir but decided to leave it at home. :upsidedow

He did however bring a few other cars from his collection which included this yellow 458 Italia,
a 2011 Porsche Turbo S and a Ferrari California Coupe-Cabriolet.

I'm bummed I didn't get a nice rolling shot of the Sang Bleu as I was out of position when he arrived however the event organizer
introduced him to me as their photographer so I'm one step closer to my dream of having the opportunity to stage these cars for some awesome pictures.

What does he do, hire people to drive his extra cars to the car show? I would do that job for free.

He's brought many of his cars to the four or five big exotic cars shows we have every year
here in the Orlando area and every one is driven to the shows. I don't know what arrangements he has with
his handlers but the guy in the 458 Italia followed him out and floored it down the road much to the delight of all us standing at the exit :)

Post more caged cars that get driven hard. I'm tired of fat guys in super cars that never do anything other than drive around looking fat.

Spunky 08-31-2010 06:54 PM

You're right. I've been working on a some pictures I took of some 917s so they were on my mind. :)

The Ford GT 40 and the Cobra have such a rich and colorful history.

Here's what Wiki says about the Ford GT 40

" The Ford GT40 was a high performance sports car and winner of the 24 hours of Le Mans four times in a row, from 1966 to 1969 (in 1967 with a different body, though). It is so far the only car, built by an American company, to win overall at this prestigious event.[3] It was built to win long-distance sports car races against Ferrari (who won at Le Mans six times in a row from 1960 to 1965). Chassis # P-1075, which won in 1968 and 1969 (the only car in Le Mans history to win the race more than once) used a 4.7-liter Ford engine enlarged to 4.9-liter (also known as a 5.0) with special alloy Gurney-Weslake heads. "

One of those years they had three GT40's entered and they finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I bet ol' Enzo was pissed that day.

A few years ago I was walking the garage area during practice for the ROLEX 24 at Daytona and had the extreme privilege of meeting this man. I took this picture and he signed my garage pass.

The more I photograph cars the more I learn about them and the history behind them. Because of that I now cherish moments like that time in the garage when I crossed paths with a true racing legend :)

This is the actual car that did beat Enzo. It's owned by a friend of mine just outside of Madison. A person could retire and live very well on what the car was recently valued at.

Did that car win the 1966 Le Mans as hinted by the poster behind it?

I just read about that race on wiki and all I can say is WOW :thumbsup
