Does this mean anal is not a sin after all?

if god doesn't exist, then who put Palin here because there's no way natural selection came up with her.

I don't know about his authority on anything other than physics, but if I remember correctly it may be because he and Penrose wrote a book where they basically said that there was a singularity in the sense that there was a "beginning".

Later, he changed his position saying that GR breaks down and something about scalar fields, and that we don't know what happened just before the big bang, more specifically whether there even was a "beginning".

His original position is still used to provide support for cosmological arguments such as the Kalam cosmological argument:

(1) Whatever begins to exist has a cause.
(2) The universe began to exist.
(3) Thus, the universe has a cause.

It is premise 2 which is at issue.

Maybe he's just firing back.

it's a lot more simple than that brainiac makes it out to be-

dingleberries are proof god does not exist.

you think god would engineer the sun and the earth in perfect harmony for life and not figure out dingleberries, come on!

JD 09-02-2010 05:38 PM

the universe IS god... OH SNAP

God saw his own dingleberries and that's how he came up with the idea to have moons circle Uranus

doesnt take a genius to know god is fiction, no? ppl with a low brain capacity settle for religion - to explain what their feeble brain cant explain ... simple ... no brain = strong believe

I'm pretty sure it didn't.

Anyway back to reality everyone, Hawking didn't actually refute that the Big_Bang_made_God as far as I could read.

Here is my theory on creation of the Universe.

"spudnik" <[email protected]> wrote...
> so, what is your hypothesis as to the mechanism,

> Let'em eat sweet?

Yeh, but let's dress it up a little.
At the moment of *creation* (snicker) about 10^-50 seconds before the Universe
was the size of a match head, trillions of googleplexes of parallel quantum futures
searched far into the future, 99.999......9% resulted in boring Universes so the
one dimensional datastream Mind Of God (snicker) selected the values of all the fundamental
constants so you could get a value meal at Maccas before 1am which was sweee eeet.
Herc

The argument is based on the Universe being "RIGGED".

WHY IS SUGAR SWEET?

According to atheists, we PERCEIVE it as sweet so our ancestors were
more likely to consume it for energy to pass on their genes!
But that would mean chicken, lamb, mustard and every taste is purely
manufactured by our brains to give it some functional relevance.
Either that or it's a just a COINCIDENCE that the simplest most available
food chemical has this wonderful sweet taste sensation.

It's just one of MILLIONS of coincidences.
Another example: If the Earth was 50% smaller, we would have no atmosphere
like Mars. If Earth was 50% bigger our muscles would be too weak to carry a
big brain, crabs would be the dominant lifeform and nobody would be able
to ponder the existence of the Universe!

Or water, H20. It's the only chemical of it's type that is liquid at around 300 Kelvin,
It's unique Hydrogen bond giving the characteristic bend in the molecule alters it's
properties so that there are liquid oceans on livable planets. No liquid water, no life!
Speaking of water, osmosis! This function is absolutely critical for life to exist, except
maybe phsophorous life forms. No osmosis, no life.

There are THOUSANDS of narrow windows of opportunity and life depends on every
single one.

I have lots of respect for Professor Hawking and although I am NOT a Christian and adhere to NO religion, I must ask...........................

"Where did the chaos come from?"

The Mice maybe?

If so, where did The Mice come from?

Of course, these questions are indeed unanswerable and it is incredibly arrogant of anyone to to try to deny the existence of that which can do things which they cannot.

Can you make a tree? Can you create a Human baby from nothing? Can you even create a living Geico Gekko?

No, you cannot, therefore something greater than yourself did. The arrogance of Humankind loves to deny that which is greater than itself. I'm not certain why but the fact remains that something out there did create us and everything around us.

Where did that thing come from?

I have no clue and neither does anyone else.

I don't know and neither does anyone else but "religions" are made-up fictions which help people deal with that which they cannot expain but also as the result, are very, very dangerous, in that the "My Religion Is the Only TRUE Religion!" comes into play and people then die.

It will be a great day for all of Humanity when it is accepted that there are just things which we cannot now and never will be able to understand or explain.

http://www.myconfinedspace.com/wp-co...ople-house.jpg

I do believe though, that the answer to Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything is indeed "42".

Yours in Chaos.

Sister Sally.

Are you sure you're not diving into the metaphysical here?

Jaeger 09-02-2010 07:20 PM

well if he says it is so then it must be so? bah bullshit he has gone back on what he has said in the past and hes just a fucking man. No-one knows for certain one way or the other, no matter who they are.

Dead 09-02-2010 08:07 PM

Eat a real good dose....ponder the mere experience, dwell in the cosmic energy for a glimpse of truth....understand the insignificant choice you make to understanding the realm of existence of something that control and calm have no place and there you will find a simple understanding of how it all works. We just ride on a big blue ball that is spinning a little to close to the sun!...God, .... would be cool too, if I could wrap my little mind around the theory and not the story. I personally can't buy into something that has caused more distrust and destruction as the religious wars and the administration hell bent to make me believe the "powers that be" in the name of(insert name here). The genius of being a man in the current and past tide is knowing ones place without ever taking a sides. Find yourself and believe in that, The rest will always be theory, nothing more.

The cosmological arguments used often take the logical form you quoted.

Who's doing the diving is beside the point. :winkwink:
