Formatting my windows drive?
I need to format the harddrive with the windows OS on it, how do i do it? Is there a standalone proggy that'll work from a memory stick?
Currently, the only way i can think of to do it is to remove the drive and pop it into an external enclosure then attach it to another machine but thats big hassle. There must be an easy way? |

Don't you have your OS on disc? You can boot from that and reformat. Make sure your BIOS is set to boot from your DVD drive.

You can run it from a memory stick if your BIOS allows you to boot from one. |
Try to search for your answer in search engines, such as:

put the windows system disk in the dvd drive and restart, it should reboot from that drive, fdisk from that interface and reinstall windows

All sorted, it turned out that i needed to press "space" to confirm that i wanted to install Win 7 but the message went and dissappered quickly and carried on to booting up the old XP. So now i'm looking at my shiny new desktop wondering where everything is! :D

Google "Bart PE"... it's a production environment that will build a simple boot CD that will load a stripped down version of Windows. From there you can format the drive as you wish. They also have great third-party apps that allow you to do things like run a through system check and take a disk image (great for when you havea hard-drive go down and want to slap in a dup-drive to be back up and running in no time).
