Hey is it just me, but i see a big problem with robots.

Imagine if they had good robots today - All the big companies would start using those instead of humans, and the unemployment rate would go insane.

The rich would get richer and a huge percentage of people would be out on the street?

person: Put the littlest pyramid on top of it.
Computer: Ok. (does it)
person: Does the shortest thing the tallest pyramid's support supports support anything green?
Computer: Yes, the green pyramid.
Person: What color is it?
Computer: By "it", i assume you mean the shortest thing the tallest pyramid's support supports.
Computer: Red
person: How many things are on top of green cubes?
Computer: I'm not sure what you mean by "on top of "in the phrase "on top of green cubes " .
Do you mean:
1 - directly on the surface
2 - anwhere on top of ?
Person: 2
computer: Three of them.
Person: Had you touched any pyramid before you put the green one on the little cube?
Computer: Yes, the green one.
Person: When did you pick it up?
Computer: While i was stacking up the red cube, a large red block and a large green cube.
Person: Why?
Computer: To get rid of it.
Person: Why did you do that?
Computer: To clean off the red cube.
Person: Why did you clear off that cube?
Computer: To put it on a large green cube.
Person: Why did you do that?
Computer: To stack up the red cube , a large red block and a large green cube.
Person: Why did you do that?
Computer: Because you asked me to.
Person: How did you do it?
Computer: By putting a large red block ....

Soon we will all be kissing their metal asses

Yea japan is only like 20 years away from building really good robots.

It might sound like science fiction but i could see a big problem - of course all the companies will buy them and use them instead of people.

They will probably have to put some laws in to stop too many robots or something.

I've been thinking about this a lot past few years and I think that it is going to be one of the biggest problem of human kind in 21st century. Every time in human history when something similar happened it ended up with war and new social and politics views. There will be probably big change in whole society, because if there will be so many robots in factories and less and less humans doing this work, then who will buy the stuff these robots are creating? There is also another view on this situation, I've talked about it with some friends who has degree in economics and they usually told me that in fact it is already going on and it might not end up with some big change in society. There will be less people doing manual work but more people doing jobs like we do now. Twenty years ago these jobs did not exist and now milions of people are working online, creating webs, games etc...

kazbalah 09-14-2010 05:20 AM

Yea well thats a good point isnt it - humans might just stop doing manual labour and end up in more offices ect.

And i agree with you, ive been thinking about it for a while now also, i could see it becoming a big problem.

Another idea tho - We could make it so no humans need to work anymore and we could all live an easy life having robots do everything.
