Heading To The Palms To See The Cult On Thursday

Gonna head over to the Pearl Theater at the Palms and see The Cult on Thursday night. :)

One of my favorite bands. "She Sells Sanctuary", "Wildflower", "Love Removal Machine", "Fire Woman" and the entire Sonic Temple album.

My favorite band! Enjoy.

I still have a copy of 'Southern Death Cult' on vinyl.

Enjoy

nice -- take pics, I'm sure it will be a MILF fest :thumbsup

We're going to see Cheech & Chong next week here in town, won't be as scenic (or "sonic")

Evil Chris 09-14-2010 11:03 AM

I saw them only once. 1987 in Montreal at "Le Spectrum".

CIVMatt 09-14-2010 11:04 AM

Fucking awesome Robbie! "She Sells Sanctuary" is the best stripper song of all time

Cyandin 09-14-2010 12:33 PM

Love The Cult. They put on a great show

FYI: I swear their last show did permanent damage to my ear drums.

The Cult: Interviewed them back in 1990-something. Ian had just cut off all his hair so I figured it would be cool to take them out to my fave cafe, where there was a private room in the back. People would recognize Ian with the flowing hair, you see....

So we get there, two in the afternoon. We go to the back, no problem, have some coffee and talk for about 45 minutes about their latest. I honestly can't remember which album it was! LOL

Anyway, there's a piano in the next area, an upright. Ian starts playing and singing 'She Sells Sanctuary" (my fave coke/club song of the '80's). Sure enough, the 5 ppl in the cafe plus the two waitresses recognize Ian....

Ah, those were the days. Rock on Robbie!!! Hope Duff can still shred it. :)

I'll bet it was the album with "Wild Hearted Son" on it. And yeah...I'm thinking that Billy Duffy is still kicking major ass. I love his raw tone.

This was bugging me so I went and checked. No, wasn't 'Ceremony' (1991) but rather 'The Cult' (1994), the one with the black sheep on the cover. That album is dark and all about drugs and death, kind of like a 90's Tonight's The Night (just not as good). I think it was the last one before they split up for awhile. I remember talking about drugs and death and sexual abuse a lot. The drummer (former) of The Cult had just died I think...it's all so fuzzy. LOL Wish I could find the actual article....

Robbie 09-14-2010 03:54 PM

Oh okay...
Speaking of drummers...Matt Sorum is back playing with them!

It should be a great show.

I guess it was a couple of years ago that The Doors were going to "reform" with Ian taking Jim Morrison's place. I remember thinking..."That is perfect!"

But before they could roll out on tour...one of the guys from The Doors (might have been John Densmore) sued all of them so they couldn't use the name. :( And the project got dropped.

Woulda been cool though.

The Porn Nerd 09-14-2010 05:55 PM

Matt is fantastic, real heavy basher. VERY jealous Robbie - pulling out some Cult music RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

I saw the VH-1 (or was it MTV? Who cares) show they did for The Doors tribute, i think. As I said, all fuzzy (was way into coke back then...). But I remember it was at Roseland here in the city. Ian was perfect for The Doors! But I bet it was Densmore. Ever read his book? I did - what a prick. He seems like a seriously flawed dude and very bitter so it wouldn't surprise me.

Check out the PSB American Masters show on The Doors, narrated by Johnny Depp. Absolutely the best piece on the band I've ever seen. (Also the new PBS show on Neil Young was outstanding, too.)

Spunky 09-14-2010 05:58 PM

That would be cool, always like The Cult
