I was just saying to myself the other day, watch the whole thing be fucking hoax.. how
could that dude possibly have thought he was a rapper!? .. with that wicked beard and strange act on david letterman and so forth.. brilliant quite frankly. I always wondered why more actors didn't perpetrate bizarre roles offstage just to fuck with people.

Film director Casey Affleck has admitted that his so-called documentary "I'm Still Here," about Joaquin Phoenix's retirement from acting and pursuit of a career in rap music, is a performance and not real.

In an interview with The New York Times, Affleck explains that he never intended the film, which has been the subject of much speculation regarding its legitimacy, to be regarded as a "hoax." And yet the director admits that the film was a "performance," and that it includes Phoenix's bizarre and mumble-filled guest appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" last year.

People getting pissed that this was a hoax probably got mad when they found out Spinal Tap wasn't real either.

I hear also that the end credits say it's written by Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck.
That should have been a give away...But,I'll pick it up on Blu-Ray-Looks like a good ride none the less.
