If you want to earn more money in your job then update your skill set!

I have hired many employees over the last 15 years in business and what never ceases to amaze me is how employees expect to get pay raises however they don't use their own initiative to continue to increase their skills set whilst they are employed.

If I worked for a company in the online adult industry I would be sure to at least learn the basics mobile porn delivery, social networks, 3D delivery etc...

rant over....

very true, same goes for unemployed, that's an ideal time to learn something new, most don't bother though...

you don't want the labor pool advancing their knowledge too much, or they will cease to be your slave and become your competition. you can nudge them in a direction you would prefer, but always keep the sheep in check.

I try to keep learning new things all the time. Trouble is how much I forget after a break from doing something.

What's crazy is the masters degree in Computer Science I got 12 years ago has very little relevance in today's technology industry. Except maybe the object orientated programming and how to bring the gap between the customer & the developers.

I expect most degrees are completely out of date by 20 years later. Just been trying to think of a subject that would have remained exactly the same with no progress or difference in thought and I can't.

I want to learn.... :) So, can anyone point me to a good site to learn more about social networks? I know the basics, just need to know how to profit from it :)
