"Rally to Restore Sanity" - it reminds me of the old lady character in Diablo II. She says, "sanity is in short supply here." (She comes in at one of the later levels.)

I saw that on the show last night and thought it was great. One of their sample protest signs was along the lines of "I don't agree with you but I don't think you're actually Hitler."

Where will you guys be staying? I've never been to DC and have no idea what its like. My plan is to drive down (10 hours, ouch), arrive a day early, hit some bars that night, and be good and wobbly for the show.

We're actually sort of local so I haven't really thought much about that.
DC is about 50 miles south of us, so it's an easy drive or train ride down there.

Beck had 80,000 people show up, scientific estimate. The morons on the right have estimated it at 300,000, 500,000 and I think it was Palin herself that said only a moron would claim under 1,000,000.

He Estimates the size of the crowd at only 5000 people while talking to his producer, but then openly inflates it to 15,000 on-air to people that trust him to report the news. What a piece of shit.

really i think their both pretty centrist, they diss just about anyone and they definitely dont fit repub or democrat molds. it would be great if they actually started the "sanity party." i would go for that, but only if they had the occasional "back to insanity" hootenanny;)

The Rally to Restore Sanity has come to a close, and crowd estimates are beginning to trickle in. It is clear that a huge number of people attended the event (see photos from the rally here), but the calculations vary among sources.

According to CBS News, 215,000 people showed up for the rally on Saturday. By comparison, CBS estimated that 87,000 -- just 40% of the Sanity Rally estimation -- attended Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally in August.

Canada's CTV, meanwhile, wrote that 250,000 people were estimated to have partaken in the Rally to Restore Sanity.

Earlier on Saturday, Brian Stelter tweeted that the Parks Service approximated that "well over 200,000" attended Saturday's rally.
