Online Porn is Dead

True or False? Anon

rayadp05 09-18-2010 07:29 PM

Definately false. No doubt about that. Why would you ask such a stupid question? :1orglaugh

BloodFart 09-18-2010 07:30 PM

depends on if you mean paying for it is dead

maccsta 09-18-2010 07:30 PM

False. The internet was built for porn, whether there is any money in it is another question.

nikki99 09-18-2010 07:35 PM

honestly, been reading that porn is dead since fucking 2003....

AdPatron 09-18-2010 07:36 PM

Making money from porn online is dead, but porn will always live on online and off.

maccsta 09-18-2010 07:38 PM

Porn will never die. The ability to tap dollars out of it is an ever changing phenomenon.

I totally disagree with this. My paysite generates plenty of signups and has been doing so for years now.

It all depends on the site and the content bro.

I agree I make a healthy living from adult, it's far from dead. It's just not as bountiful as it once was.

But saying that, it's not going to get any easier and I don't want to say that you know what phrase involving adaption and death!

BIGTYMER 09-18-2010 07:50 PM

Alive but challenging.

jackknoff 09-18-2010 08:16 PM

False, it's alive and well...

Spanx!

That's true. Many have started since then and a few did quite well. I do think it's a lot harder now though. I remember when you could throw up an AVS site and make $500-$1000 a week from it without doing any other promotion. Just making the site and getting accepted was all that was needed. :1orglaugh Those days are of course long gone. You can still find lucrative opportunities in 2010 but generally they require more original thinking and they are fewer and far between.

maccsta 09-18-2010 08:39 PM

Yeah the easy money has gone, don't be so lazy!

The people who want to make it in this industry will still strike gold.

SomeCreep 09-18-2010 08:52 PM

It's not dead, it's free. There's a difference.

adult-help 09-18-2010 08:54 PM

it is more difficult to earn money but no way is the online porn dead.

General porn is free in various forms of quality. A large amount of niches and micro niches are either avalible for free in poor quality or not available at all.

The general web has a long way to catch up with the truly perverted mind! There is still plenty of untapped ways to make money in porn, just don't go for the obvious.

Yngwie 09-18-2010 09:10 PM

False. There's still plenty of $ to be made in this industry. Sure, it's harder then it was many years ago, but the $ is still there. I know many will say tubes are killing it all. While it is dipping into the sales pool we just need to find something that actually works and not keep doing the same shit we have been doing for many years just because it worked back in 1997 to 2003 and expect the same results that we used to get.

We do need to start treating customers and potential customers better though. Think long term if you're actually serious about this. A quick buck may be nice, but when will that quick buck stop? Too many people don't treat this as a real business and still believe that as long as they put up a gallery here and there the $ will come. In the end the get nothing, but disappointment.

Needless to say, there's still plenty of $ to be made otherwise everyone would just quit.

Argos88 09-19-2010 12:38 AM

making lots of money off adult is close to dead (comparing to 1999-2005)

unless you are a sponsor owner or you do some black hat nasty tactics like many dirty guys here do... otherwise, the honest way, almost impossible..

so we must take part of our money off mainstream to survive.

.

Adam_M 09-19-2010 12:58 AM

False!!!

hdkiller 09-19-2010 01:40 AM

you will make more sales when you don't spend your time on forums like this

Davy 09-19-2010 02:49 AM

Definitely false. August was the best month in two years for me.
My only problem is that the money is stuck in Epassporte and that I can't access it at the moment.

It died long ago.... there's only a handful of people left in Adult making any real $$ off of promoting sites.

And it's just the same for others (content producers, designers, Performers) in the industry as well. I remember when it was easy to get people to pay you thousands of dollars for web design in Adult for example. Back in 05 I made over 12 grand just off of 1 single client during the year. The demand was still there... people constantly opening new sites etc... Now a days you're lucky when you find someone willing to pay you a few hundred bucks for something.

Adult has basically degraded into nothing more than a Clown industry filled with broke people who expect everything for nothing because they can't turn a good profit anymore after giving all their shit away for free.

Mainstream is where all real $ is, has alway been and will always be.

Paul Markham 09-19-2010 03:40 AM

It's not dead, just shrinking at an alarming rate.

Emil 09-19-2010 03:57 AM

Not really dead... More like in the hospital waiting to die...

Jaeger 09-19-2010 03:58 AM

i cannot really vote on this one because im not sure... I think its almost dead, but not quite....

just a punk 09-19-2010 04:12 AM

I'd say OFFLINE porn is dead :2 cents:

Dirty Dane 09-19-2010 04:22 AM

Everyone dies, but not porn. Porn is life.

J. Falcon 09-19-2010 04:27 AM

Keep thinking that it is.

AntiChrist 09-19-2010 04:35 AM

Porn is not dead. Porn is dying on the WEB.

Quoted for truth.

The last trend in adult is people "Thinking" they will make some cash emailing Worthless DMCA's, since they are unable to make money with their sites anymore.

A total FAIL, of course. Since you see sites like extreme-board.com or pornbb.org stay LIVE and Happy with complete site rips, and nobody can do anything.

Mainstream, there is the money, I agree.

Period.

Sex is inmortal...

Rochard 09-20-2010 10:26 AM

Still false.

I pulled stats this morning and not only do I have more sales than last month, but a lot more dollar wise too.

September has always been better than August, more people back from holiday and the weather getting colder.

just because you failed doesn't mean others are.

spazlabz 09-20-2010 10:47 AM

we are still getting joins every single day of the month and I will refrain from making some big boastful statement but we are not doing bad :)

as long as people are willing to pay for it porn wont die... they are still paying for it

Ronzo 09-20-2010 10:58 AM

Only a sucker pays for porn. Porn, as a business, is dying a slow death. Find a niche, any niche that makes money, and it won't for long. Because, somebody always comes along and figures the best way to be competitive and corner the market is to give it away for free. It's all a big circle jerk and very self-destructive.

Klen 09-20-2010 11:09 AM

I think at the moment only thing what can sell it's a paysite with really really huge content choice or some micro micro niche

On topic, it can never die. Ever. But that doesn't mean you will make any money slinging it. The days of throwing a TGP up and waiting for the signups from your hosted galleries are somewhat over. I say somewhat, because there are still people pushing big hits anywhere they need them, and if you throw enough shit against a wall, some of it sticks.

The fact that any monkey with a laptop can toss up a free hosted site, with free hosted galleries, with free licensed pics/vids, with free hosted vid chat .... creates an awfully tough market place for those of you who do it all legitimately.

IMO (which isnt worth a whole lot), the people who were here in the beginning, will be here in the end. Most everyone else in the middle (like me) will just fade away. The exception would be those who jump in with industry knowledge, and some sick funding. But I've seen that go sour also, and watch those attempts sizzle really fast lol.

No idea why i replied to this, or why i keep typing, so i will just end it here.

Depends.

People will always be wondering that whats inside a paysite. And being able to access the material early is hobby of everyone who can afford it easily.

Cyber Fucker 09-20-2010 03:59 PM

it's false

CYF 09-20-2010 04:04 PM

even my computer illiterate friends all know about redtube and youporn. Paying for porn, unless it's something extraordinary or very niche, is dead imho.

Alprazolam 09-20-2010 04:38 PM

people who talk about how much sales they are doing don't make sales.

they want to look like a cool guy.

So true.

Crazy Enough 07-02-2011 03:50 PM

There is too much competition, warez, tubes... but sell porn online or make money as an affiliate is not dead.
