Do most people run around all weekend having exciting lives?

Or is that all poser bullshit?

Unless you have kids and need to shuttle them around to activities, I don't think most people do shit.

candyflip 09-20-2010 08:53 AM

I run around chasing my kids. Doesn't matter what day of the week it is, they're all the same. In fact, most days I couldn't tell you what day it actually is without looking first.

fatfoo 09-20-2010 08:59 AM

It's just that there is many ways to live life. You can run around to go to different people. Or, you can stay in one spot and other people run to go to you. There could be transportation expenses involved and freight is worth something, as well. Good luck.

fatfoo 09-20-2010 09:01 AM

You mind need crutches or a wheelchair if you can't walk.

Tom_PM 09-20-2010 09:02 AM

Weekends aren't for housework and laundry? D'oh

TheDoc 09-20-2010 09:29 AM

Does finishing lego starwars for the wii to 100% with my boys count as an exciting weekend? Because I was pretty damn excited! 150 damn hours to fully beat that bitch. Also started lego batman, washed the garage, did yard work and listened to the UoA kick some ass! Excitement is what we renamed our weekends to.

wyldblyss 09-20-2010 09:29 AM

Weekends for the most part are a complete bore except for the warm months. When the sun is shining we are soaking up the sun with a few drinks by the pool or out on the boat. I need to move to a warmer climate so I can enjoy life all year long

cwd 09-20-2010 09:31 AM

everyone has their own definition of excitement.

That's awesome! My son doesn't have the patience to finish the game at 100%...we've started several times and he gets bored. And my wife won't let me play by myself... :(

ottopottomouse 09-20-2010 09:57 AM

I don't even know when the weekends are.

96ukssob 09-20-2010 09:59 AM

Pffft, that's nothing. Talk to me when you're in full loser mode and start on your fourth run of an 80-hour JRPG for a 15 point 'speed run' achievement.

Fucking Namco and their awesome games with stingy-ass achievements. And fuck me for actually trying to do it anyway!

Achievement points are so useless but bring out this horrible competitive underside to me that for some reason I can't find the fire to apply to anything useful. I buckled down and finished my Mass Effect insanity run even though it was the most infuriating thing in the world because I wanted to get that before my boyfriend and any of his friends did. But I'm pretty sure I still have gamer nightmares of that Praetorian on Horizon one-shotting my poor Engineer FemShep over and over and over =(

On the one hand, my boyfriend can talk to me in-depth about all his video games and laugh at me for working out to video game OSTs and brag to his friends about the fact that my gamer score on XBL is higher than most of theirs (Dwreck and a few others can confirm this since I've added a few GFYers on there, I'm at 10,000+)... but at the same time, we have had actual legit fights over shit like who gets the Xbox at a certain point in time.

Atlus (the makers of Shin Megami Tensei series, which I am obsessed with) have recently announced their first MegaTen game for the 360 and we're probably going to have to give in and buy a second console when that game comes out, given that the SMT games tend to be around 90 hours long for the 'first' playthrough and then offer a bunch of shit that's only accessible for the new game plus playthrough... that's a lot of console monopolizing, and the boyfriend likes to play Call Of Duty almost every night, so... yeah, haha.

Speaking of, the new Atlus game looks sufficiently weird and perverted enough that a few of you might even enjoy it once it comes Stateside (and it will, because it's Atlus and they're making it for the 360 as well as the PS3 and the 360 is a non-entity in Japan):

The mid-30's and 40's dad's piloting the minivan full of screaming brats and the dumpy screeching houswife seem to be living life to the fullest. :thumbsup

I have yet to get that memo. I spent this weekend pulling three wheelbarrows of weeds off our one acre lot, pruning bushes, baking, blanching, bagging and freezing the last of the summer corn and squash, sanding and staining the hot tub, cleaning the car, and priming and painting new feet for the dining table. And that was just on Sunday. :upsidedow
