Republican Tea Party Contract ON America
How refreshing to see an effort to actually hold Republicans accountable for their nasty, selfish attitudes toward fellow citizens. The Democrats have an answer to the Republicans' effort to craft a new "Contract With America".
Behold, the Republican Tea Party Contract ON America, where Democrats are prepared to remind the country of what Republicans have been up to this year. Contract high points include: 1) Repeal the Affordable Care Act (Health Insurance Reform) - Put insurance companies back in charge, repeal tax credits for small businesses, allow insurance companies to deny coverage based on preexisting conditions and to drop coverage when a person gets too sick and make prescription drugs for seniors less affordable. 2) Privatize Social Security or phase it out altogether - Turn the guaranteed retirement benefits of America's seniors over to Wall Street CEOs by putting Social Security at risk in the stock market or, as some Republicans have called for, phase out Social Security altogether and end a program millions of American seniors rely on for their survival. 3) End Medicare as it presently exists - Phase out and end Medicare as it presently exists for future generations of seniors, ending Medicare's guaranteed healthcare benefits for more than 40 million American seniors, and replace it with a voucher system which will result in higher premiums and fewer services for seniors. 4) Extend the Bush tax breaks for the wealthy and big oil - At a cost of nearly $700 billion, extend the Bush tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and big oil, which are set to expire and which have and will continue to explode the federal budget deficit. 5) Repeal Wall Street Reform - Roll back the toughest consumer protections ever enacted, allow banks to continue to grow too big to fail, and ensure that predatory lenders continue to utilize their most abusive practices. 6) Protect those responsible for the oil spill and future environmental catastrophes - Cap liabilities for those responsible for environmental disasters like the Gulf oil spill and let companies like BP decide which victims deserve compensation for the disaster and what the timeline for relief should be. 7) Abolish the Department of Education - Put the big banks back in charge of student loans and put an end to federal assistance for public schools. 8) Abolish the Department of Energy - End America's investments in a clean-energy future and disband the organization responsible for oversight of nuclear materials. 9) Abolish the Environmental Protection Agency - Gut the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, which together protect our kids from air pollution and keep drinking water safe, and disband the watchdog that holds polluters accountable. 10) Repeal the 17th Amendment - Take away your right to pick your U.S. Senator That's what they've promised. Not just a walk back to the Bush years, a walk back to another century. Perhaps they could repeal the Emancipation Proclamation, too. Source: http://crooksandliars.com/karoli/wel...ican-tea-party |
Kinda funny they post this the day before they come out with it.
|
Sounds exactly like the Libertarian party to me.
|
They wont mention any of that until after the election though. If republicans win back the senate and house, the very same evening they will announce all kinds of crazy shit that would have lost them the elections if they said it too loudly. Betcha a quarter.
|
I bet John McCain regrets bringing that bitch to the forefront :2 cents:

Interesting that the Democrats are deciding what's in it, and what the implications are before it is even put out.
OH wait, they are pretty good at telling us what is in things that they haven't actually read yet.... I forgot. . |
You're right. Why dont they just list the things that the republican leaders have publically declared that they will do if they win back.

Yeah that right, they tried this before and look what happened in 1994
On the first day of their majority in the House, the Republicans promised to pass eight major reforms: 1.require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply to Congress; 2.select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse; 3.cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third; 4.limit the terms of all committee chairs; 5.ban the casting of proxy votes in committee; 6.require committee meetings to be open to the public; 7.require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase; 8.guarantee an honest accounting of the Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting. So tell me, why are people afraid of the new one? |
I'm hoping they extend the capital gains tax cut or better yet make them permanent. Democrat, Republican or whomever is in charge. If the tax cut expires I think it will be hurt the stock market.

Hey Vendzilla and Gouge,
Please explain the GOP's new plan to fix America. Misdirection and snide remarks aside, please tell us what the big GOP/Tea Party plan is, that is so fucking great. |
President Obama had to APPOINT Elizabeth Warren (and dozens of others) because Republicans are currently holding up literally HUNDREDS of nominees from the president for various positions.
But they'll run on washington being "broken" as if it's one mans fault, and for some reason since its that one mans fault who is not running for anything this year, they'll want you to vote for the same fuckers who trashed this dump. Wake up! |

The funny thing is, the Democrats have no plan on fixing the economy so they keep on fucking up. But god forbid BFT3K actually focuses on facts and reality instead of misdirection:)

I guess you forgot how Barry by passed the whole vetting process by appointing Donald Berwick to head medicare and medicaid during a recess? There is a process that Obama thought he was above! |

You are so filled with (drunken) hatred, that your tunnel vision excludes rational thought. Go back up the page a bit, and start answering questions, instead of hurling insults and fox noise talking points. |

Obama made it pretty clear early on that the GOP had no power and that he WON the election and was going to do what he wanted to. He kept the GOP out of the whole healthcare process. You want polarized congress, you got it, Barry built it |

Please explain the Democrats' plan to fix America. And when I say plan, I don't mean economic collapse.:1orglaugh |
come on man. its reasonable to attack republican rule when they were running the show. They've been out of power in congress almost 4 years now, out of power totally almost 2 years.
Yes, there is a massive hangover in the job market & the government deficit. But what have DEMS done to grow jobs? what have they done to reduce the deficit? All they have done is health care, & it was done so bad, nothing will change. Wall street reform? too big to fail can still happen. derivatives & credit card gouging continues unabated. Its truly pathetic how much power DEMS had in congress & got so little done. Not to say the repubs will be better. But you spend so much energy attacking the right wing, giving no attention to the damage being done by your party, right now. |
