How can I get WP to run more efficient with say 100k a day traffic?

I have a blog that has recieved about 50k in traffic per day for a few days.

It seems that WP is having troubles with the load. I use a simple theme with only minimal widgets and plugins. Is there any setting or plugin that will optimize or cache or something that may help?

Yes. Use the w3 total cache plugin, configure it to work with amazon s3 service.
You can also try db cache reloaded plugin. It's much simpler.
That should help you site a lot!

You definitely need to serve your pages from cache.

Ok I already had that installed, but I was not sure of all the settings and configuring. I guess I will play with it a bit and see what happens.

Thanks.
