Now if he were 17 years old, and not committed suicide, the jail terms would be much higher.

Possessing or distributing videos of sexual activities (that you did not provoke but just record) of an adolecent 17y minor is much more heinous, much more punishable, then contributing to the suicide death of an 18 year old.


I am in no way advocating any such distribution, I am just pointing out how the laws seem to be a little overboard: how the death of an 18 year old carries a lower penalty then exposing nude video of a 17 year old.

Nothing in the report indicates he was outted in a gay encounter or would be shamed if people learned he was gay or straight or anything else. I guess it's speculation, but is it really so hard to imagine someone being absolutely ashamed because a private thing was posted online? What a terrible crime and worse outcome. The two were charged with filming and transmitting the video.

They were not charged with his death so you can't add the death to their charges and compare the penalties.

He posted a similar message to his Facebook account too. What he was doing was using iChat to remotely broadcast his webcam to all his friends while his roommate was in the room having sex with some guy. Apparently a lot of people watched live as it happened. The kid later finds out everyone saw it and jumps off a bridge and kills himself.

i never said that. my point was this generation with video phones and webcams everywhere there are much higher chances for this to happen, and it is happening, every day around schools (not gang rapes but video put in the net or shared around of kids fucking/nude without their permission. that was just another recent example.
