US Income Gap Between Rich & Poor, Widest Ever!
The income gap between the richest and poorest Americans grew last year to its widest amount on record as young adults and children in particular struggled to stay afloat in the recession.
The top-earning 20 percent of Americans - those making more than $100,000 each year - received 49.4 percent of all income generated in the U.S., compared with the 3.4 percent earned by those below the poverty line, according to newly released census figures. That ratio of 14.5-to-1 was an increase from 13.6 in 2008 and nearly double a low of 7.69 in 1968. Story continues here... http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/....shtml?tag=dis |

Bush was there to get the middle class that was rising vote to make them happy. Also to make money off defense and resources for his buddies. Obama came in to make the "poor" happy. He then goes ahead and squeezes out small business so help his corporate buddies. Then the middle class wives middle age type will be made happy with Sarah Palin. it goes down the line. you make certain people happy at certain times and they shut up for a good 8 years until everything is gone. Why do this? the middle class in america is the only one who can really challenge the upper class. Deals were made long ago to rape the entire country of America. You convince an entire country of people they are the best in the world so they stop bothering to look for distractions even inside their own country. Get them to build up an economy. Then you take everything from them knowing they will not put up a fight because you have basically trained them to be fat and lazy. Don't believe me? Look around in the USA. It is really sad. I went to my Dads american citizenship ceremony. It is the immigrants who love your country. Pure bread Americans have 0 respect for themselves. And when there is nothing left they wont even put up a fight. Because Americans are so convinced they cannot do any wrong that they do not even bother looking at outside influences or opinions. And because you have no outside influence or opinions you choose not to take any action because you do not know any better. |

Funny thing how some think that socialists fight the rich, corporations and inequality. Socialism at it's pure is one giant state corporation and those who are on top live 100 times better than those who are at bottom. They have personal guards and servants, best medicine, cars and food when those who are at bottom eat only 3d grade quality noodles and use public transport and hospitals empty on drugs.

"Socialism at it's pure is one giant state corporation and those who are on top live 100 times better than those who are at bottom."
Thats just silly, and clearly stated by someone who doesn't even own a damn passport. There aren't any countries that are "pure socialism" - in Europe we have social democracies - there aren't a lot of beamers, there aren't a lot of beaters, our kids are well educated, well fed, our life expectancies are long, quality of life excellent, health care covered by taxes (and far far cheaper than in the US), and issues like drug dependency, child poverty, teen pregnancy and violent crime are at levels so low as to make america look like something out of "midnight express" And this is only in third world italy. Countries like Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Denmark are LIGHT YEARS ahead of us down south..... oh - and they are far far more competitive economically than the US is too. |
Both major political parties are to blame for allowing labor / manufacturing arbitrage ... hiring offshore labor at $1 or whatever per hour and not having to abide by the strict labor and environmental rules ... in short, using 3rd world labor / facilities to manufacture goods / provide services sold at 1st world prices.
Such offshore arbitrage can't last forever ... it's taken roughly 30 years, but the effects are finally becoming plainly obvious throughout the U.S. as its living standards / wages rapidly decline to meet that of the 3rd world. The irony is that as the U.S. standards falls, offshoring will likely accelerate ... seems counterintutive, but the race to the bottom is no where near done yet for two major reasons: 1. Too many working age, desperate, out of work adults in the U.S., which will continue to depress wages and decrease buying power; 2. Huge untapped populations of the world, such as much of Africa, in which people live on practically no income at all; makes even China expensive by comparison. Ron |

Here's what I love about the residual fallacy. Morons use "Aha!" statistics that might not necessarily have any correlation to say the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

Democrats fucked things up, they have been in power since they took the elections in 06 on the promise of change, they got a President on the promise of hope in 08, here it is the end of 2010, wheres the hope and change?
GOP has no power but to try and stop the bleeding, a balance works better, at least it did in 95 to 2000 when the GOP ran the house and senate and we had a democrat president, but I could be wrong! |
