Shit happens. Plan on it. ;-)

Somewhat relevant: Winston Churchill said "He who fails to plan is planning to fail" during World War II.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 10-02-2010 07:34 AM

plans are for the weak...

lol we would have failed if it wasent for the US and other countrys helping us even though Churchill was a planner

I think that when people plan effectively they keep it to themselves, over vocalizing a plan can ruin it before it ever gets off the ground. Naysayers etc.

Rochard 10-02-2010 07:40 AM

"I don't take a crap without having a plan son".

I plan everything. On my normal work day, we have a routine we follow which leads to me going for a run with my dog at 8am every morning. During this run I plan out my work day, what needs to be done, etc, and then when I get home a quick shower I physically use Google tasks to make a list for the day.

Planning is a huge help.

CaptainHowdy 10-02-2010 07:41 AM

I just go with the disasterous flow of my life...

Zuzana Designs 10-02-2010 07:41 AM

I plan everything from what I eat to my work sch each day. If I don't plan things and stay organized I would be lost.

IllTestYourGirls 10-02-2010 07:43 AM

I plan, then change everything as I go lol.

Spontaneous always seems to work better for me.

Matyko 10-03-2010 05:14 AM

I do plan, but not sticking to the plan 100%.

Parker: "I think a plan is just a list of things that don't happen."

hehe, I even take that into consideration when planning: things that need to be done, things that would be nice to get done,...

Barefootsies 10-03-2010 05:18 PM

I will plan out to some degree, but you have to leave a loose leash to adjust as needed.

wyldblyss 10-03-2010 05:43 PM

If you feel all of your planning/organization always falls apart what you have to ask yourself is "are you a bottom or a top"?

A bottom person may have a general idea of the outcome they want. They take things step by step from the bottom to the end product.

A top person has a very specific idea of the outcome they want. They have it all laid out in their heads and then work from the top down.

An example would be someone that wants to build a house.

A bottom person might search for the perfect lot before they ever decide for sure what kind of house they want on it. Even when they get a lot, they will start the planning by how much money they have to spend, how much time, and what basic needs they have. Things may get bigger as it progresses due to circumstance, or smaller.

A top person has the vision of the perfect lot and the house already in their head. If the perfect lot doesn't exist, they will change it so it conforms. They know the square footage, they know the tile they are using before the foundation is poured. They change things to conform to what they have in their head where a bottom person will change things as they go and get a clearer picture.

So figure out whether you are planning as a top or bottom and try doing it the other way around. It may help

You have to plan some things for them to work. Not your daily life though.... its better to enjoy things as they happen :2 cents:

I have always 2 plans: one on the short-term and the other on a medium, long-term.
I need both

epitome 10-04-2010 02:16 PM

I didn't plan to post in this thread.

What does that make me? A planner or someone that does random things?

I also didn't plan on be on GFY right now. It's a distraction when I need one.

fatfoo 10-04-2010 02:23 PM

I don't plan much. Usually I do things spontaneously without scheduling.
