Oct 6th Epassporte - Works through it and gets Redemption?

What are you to do, besides get whats yours out? Do you still continue to accept payments? or do you wait for increasingly higher bankwire payout threshholds?

Whats your position? IF They come through on making things right?

Davy 10-04-2010 12:35 AM

You misunderstand the situation, I believe. Epassporte and the bank have nothing to do with each other anymore.
Epassporte will not turn on the Visa balance anymore. The bank is merely offering you a way to get your money out.

adult-help 10-04-2010 12:45 AM

here is what bank should do, even though they dont want to work with epass anymore: turn on the connection to epass and turn on the visas. Epass would then have no excuses not to get back to 100% functionality. Then we can take our wallet money, transfer it to vv and take it out!

How do you know this? And how will we know exactly how much we have left on the card to withdraw? I don't remember seeing an option to check the epass card balance when I went to the ATM's.

Epassporte is dead. They have NOTHING to do with Visa Virtual anymore.

If people get any money back from VV, it's will have been because of the BANK.

Oh boy...

Right. The way I understand it Epass no longer has anything to do with the VV cards. You can still use the wallet system with epass (from what I understand) to transfer to your bank account or request a wire, but the VV cards (and any balance on them) are out of their hands and being handled by the bank. The bank is going to turn them on as a courtesy to us so we can get our money (if they actually do turn them on). It would seem that if the bank can do that they nearly have everything in place to simply become what Epass was and replace Epass, but I don't know if they have any desire to do that.

Still, if the cards come back on and I can get my money, I will be very happy. I switched my payouts back to check and can take paypal for other stuff that is non-adult so while not having epass around will be a bit of an inconvenience, I'll be satisfied with the outcome.

indeed , bank will (probably) turn on VV to get our money , and than its over.
epass is dead , else they would have let us know any news...

Ron2k1 10-04-2010 01:42 AM

Well maybe epassporte will find some other bank partner to give out a different ATM card.

If St Kitts bank does payout all virtual visa balances and epass does payout all wallet money through wires they still can survive since no money was lost then.

After the bank closed epassporte connections and VV statements were unavailable i ask support for a full statement for the full year, they sent me a pdf file with ALL movements in last 12 months and it contains the exact amount in my VV

if everybody pays everything and nobody keeps money in epassporte then they will not survive, there will be no business and operating costs are still there.

While the account holders' money won't be lost, epassporte must be hurting alot from the lack of transactions. They must have lost out a ton on ATM withdrawal fees alone. Can they survive? I'm really not sure.

Anyone smart enough would have made a screenshot of their balance as soon as the news got out that ePassporte was having trouble.

I think this advice was also posted several times on GFY. It's the first thing I did when the ePassporte problems started, I had enough bad experience with processors etc. in the past to do this asap.

CPimp 10-04-2010 02:00 AM

Monday morning business as usual.

Still, it would be handy to see the VV balance somewhere. If you're outside the US, with exchange rates changing daily, it's hard to keep track of how much you have left after a few withdrawals.

I DO NOT think that apologies are in order to either ePassporte or SKANB, the bank that ePassporte contracted with to provide the VISA instruments.

So far, their performance in resolving this matter has been a total failure. In fact, the cardholders are injured parties to their dispute.

I hope that the bank (SKANB) will resolve this matter in the next few days.

FWIW, I was taking money out regularly in the days before my card expired at the end of August (thankfully, given what happened a few days later) and one of those times the ATM was unable to dispense money for some reason.

Like you I always thought it wasn't possible to check the balance, and it never showed up on the ATM receipts, but the option to check it was there on the ATM so I tried it to see if I had enough in to withdraw. To my surprise it worked and showed the balance (which was a lot more than I was trying to withdraw).

It's the first, and as things turned out, last, time I've ever seen my Epassporte balance (the VV only, not the wallet) on an ATM, so you may well now be able to check it at the ATM when the card is enabled again.

In hindsight I wonder if that (temporary) problem with being unable to withdraw money and/or the fact the balance was available to check at the ATM was due to things already being 'in motion' at the SK bank, in the days before Epassporte was suspended.
